Very Informative

We did this tour Monday, Labor day, and highly recommend it. We've been to Memphis several times, have done the Graceland tour, Sun tour, and Beale Street, but this tour gives you so much information that you just don't get on your own. Memphis Jones is spontaneous, hilarious, and very well informed. You could sense how passionate he is about Memphis (the city). One thing that was so funny on our tour, Memphis was in his spiel as we drove by the Piggly Wiggly, and there was just this buzz that went through the bus. He just stopped what he was talking about, and gave us the history of the Piggly Wiggly. He covers it all!!

If you are interested in Memphis music history do not miss this tour. Memphis Jones is thoroughly enjoyable, singing, joking and an excellent music historian. Learn about the birth of the blues, the birth of rock and roll, Elvis, Johnny Cash, and many other great singers and groups that came out of Memphis. This was the highlight of a very enjoyable weekend in Memphis.

The Memphis Mojo Tour was awesome! Memphis Jones was entertaining, informative and fun. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Memphis or even locals. Definitelly worth $25 and then some.

Older couple and didn't know what to see but Beale Street... We spent one day there and I had scheduled a ride on the Mojo Bus for us the next day. We were pleasantly surprised and the sightseeing tour and music was great. We saw many areas and told many stories about some of the greats that we would have never known about. Great time!

A group of us went on tour in Dec with Memphis Jones serving as the entertainer and it was so much fun. He combined great musical abilities with his historical knowledge of Memphis music scene as well as other notable facts about Memphis. I took the tour again this past weekend and was disappointed because it was not nearly as informative or fun. I felt as if our guide was singing or playing for his own enjoyment rather than for his audience. He seemed to be compelled to sing every last note of a song when the time could have been spent playing/singing parts of a song and then sharing information. I learned so much more the first time and the whole atmoshpere was more upbeat when Memphis Jones led the tour. So my recommendation is whole-hearted if Memphis Jones is included. We were offered a choice of where to stop on the tour the first time but the past weekend it was decided for us. Unfortunate since almost everyone on the bus had already been to Sun Studios at least once. Also- we were not on the same bus. It seemed that the a/c did not work well so most of the time we were uncomfortably hot.

having taken this tour once before, i was disappointed in this version. The musician was not as good as the previous. All in all, OK, but just not great.

Unorganized stream of consciousness narration

I surprised my husband with this bus tour of Memphis for his birthday after reading the rave reviews. We left on the tour about 30 minutes later than was scheduled. Then the poor bus driver was new and I'm pretty sure she had never ridden the route with anyone, just given a list of turns to make. We went the wrong way several times, turned around, and at some points just gave up on trying to get where we were supposed to go since we were running so late. The tour guide was an older gentleman who at one time owned Sun Studios (a stop on the tour) and had a lot of interesting first hand knowledge, but basically he was like listening to an unedited VH1 Behind the Music episode. He wouldn't complete thoughts, he'd pass by important places on the tour and forget to mention them so we got a lot of " Oh, we just passed this, but back there was ...." . He also name dropped a lot and bragged about things he had done with famous artists, which is not what we were looking for on a tour of Memphis. My husband described his style as "stream of consciousness" where he just spouted off whatever was on his mind at the time, whether it fit it with what he had just talked about or not. It was a 90 minute tour that was supposed to leave at 2:30 and get back at 4:00, but we ended up getting back at 5:00. We exited the bus not knowing much more than we knew when we got on. I would not recommend taking this tour and we were very disappointed.

'Our trip to Memphis wouldn't have been complete without Memphis Jones' tour. It was both fun and entertaining. He pointed out significance in the otherwise unremarkable scenery around us in between having the entire bus 'skakin', rattlin' and rollin'. Best tour ever !

WE THOROUGHLY ENJOYED OUR MOJO TOUR. MEMPHIS JONES IS SO INFORMATIVE, ENTERTAINING AND TALENTED. I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THAT THIS WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP. IT EMBODIED WHAT MEMPHIS IS ALL ABOUT AND GAVE US AN APPRECIATION OF THE CITY AND IT'S HISTORY.
