We took the Memphis Mojo tour with our kids, ages 11 and 15. Our tour guide Jay was funny, insightful, and really knew the history of the tour stops. The tour stops at various spots through town and a lot of what you learn are the not so well known facts, the real gems about the people. This trip is a blast, if you don't enjoy it, you don't have a pulse!

This was my first visit to Beale street and also Backbeat Tours. I found parking to be very convenient, just a block away. The bus reminded me of my childhood in the fifties. We took our seats and our hosts started passing out tamborines and egg shaped shakers for the percussion backup. Our tour guide was very entertaining. He sang and played guitar and was a wealth of information about the history of Memphis and its musicians. I know I want to come back and spend more time in Memphis.

Learned a lot & had an awesome time!!!!!

My friend and I went on the Memphis Mojo Tour: the Best of Memphis and the extended tour of Stax Recording Studio. The main reason for our Memphis mini-vacation was to see Graceland because we are both huge Elvis fans. We wanted to see other sites in Memphis and I found the reviews of this tour to be very highly recommended. Well, it definitely did live up to all the hype. My friend was a little skeptical of the whole "bus tour" thing. I think she thought it would be a boring, senior citizen type of activity and that we would be the youngest people participating. No way!!! It was so exciting and entertaining to learn about the history of Memphis from our awesome tour guide Memphis Jones! He made the tour one of the highlights of our entire stay in the city!!!!! Request him for your tour, and get your mojo workin'!

I highly recommend this musical bus tour through Memphis. The tour guide had a tremendous enthusiasm for and knowledge of blues music and its roots in Memphis. We learned so much on this tour, and thoroughly enjoyed actively participating in the songs and stories. There were stories and details we would not have heard otherwise on our trip to Memphis, such as the first place where Elvis played for a large crowd, and an even a story about Johnny Cash "performing" at a bake sale just to get recognized. I would have liked to visit longer and more in-depth at Sun Records, but recognized the constraints of the tour only allowed for a quick restroom break. I know there are other types of tours offered, but I give this one an A++

The Highlight of My Memphis Weekend

This tour was absolutely the most fun, entertaining, and informative thing that my friends and I did the entire weekend in Memphis. The tour guide was hilarious! I laughed more on this tour than at a comedy club. The guide was also very passionate about the city and all its history. It was neat how he would sing songs and play the guitar while the tour bus passengers shook tamborines and little shaker things. Because of this tour, I got to see many parts of Memphis that I would have not seen otherwise. I had just been around the Beale Street area, but the tour drove by St. Jude's Children's hospital, Sun Studio, Stax Studio, the Lorraine Motel, and many other places. At first, I was a little weary of the price for the tour. But I promise that it is well worth the 30 or so dollars. I hope to go back to Memphis and take this tour again. It is just that great!

JAKE IS FLY!

The tour was interesting from the standpoint of all of the historic sites involved. The tour guide, Jake Fly, was worth most of the price of admission as he used cheesy humor, panache, and gifted guitar-playing and singing to win over his group. Request a tour with Jake as your guide. If you like musical history and guided chemistry, Jake Fly is your guy!
