Fun and Informative

The tour was the highlight of our visit to Memphis. Our tour guide and resident musician Memphis Jones was talented, knowledgeable and very personable and interactive with the tourists. Our driver was also very skillful in navigating us around the city whom our tour guide noted had the worst drivers in the world. I would take the tour again if i return to Memphis.

One of, if not, the BEST tour I've ever taken. Memphis Jones was fun, and informative. He really seems to know his stuff. The 1959 bus is a great way to see the city. We will definitely do other tours with Backbeat when we're in Memphis again.

Unique concept for a city tour! I loved it. Memphis J high wire act could fail in wrong hands but his are the right ones. Great quitar playing, and he made the Memphis history personal and funny. If I could suggest any improvement the tour could be a little longer- maybe including Stax studio. My curiosity was piqued I didn't want tour to end yet! Thanks to Memphis and sponsors for GREAT tour.

I signed up for this bus tour on the recommendation of a friend who bought tickets for she and her son. I thought it sounded like fun so I purchased my tickets about a week before my trip to Memphis. I arrived right on time and I was greeted by our friendly host (I have since forgotten his name), and we boarded the bus. There were only about 10 of us on this day, and we all received an instrument of some kind; either an egg shaker, a tambourine, or bongo drums. The driver began driving and our host started giving us the history of Memphis, of rock and roll, Elvis, and many other people who made their mark in the area. He made it interesting and entertaining, and even though it got corny at times, I thought it was very enjoyable. The whole trip lasted a little over 1 1/2 hours, and I feel it was worth the $60 I paid for my daughter and me.

Good, but Not Worth the Money

The tour provided some interesting stories and good history about Memphis. However, I do not think it is worth the fifteen dollars plus service charges. Our tour guide was really good, but he could only do so well with what he had. I would have liked to have heard more stories and gone to more places.

We completely enjoyed the tour. We, being in our 60's remember vividly all those great singers who got there start in Memphis. Remembering listening to their records on the radio, on our 45's or watching them on T.V. You have a wonderful city and we will be sure and tell all of our friends and family to visit you. The tour guide who was a 20 something college student was delightful and funny---we enjoyed his songs even though he was not the best singer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was solo on this trip . I was made to feel very welcome and I loved playing my instrument on the bus along with the guide. I learned so much about Memphis and saw so many amazing sights all within the 90 minutes. You can tell the tour people really enjoy what they are doing. I would recommend this bus to anyone! There was a toddler on the bus dancing along, an older couple whistling and me - shaking my musical egg-thing. I had so much fun.

I had some relatives visiting from out of town and decided to try out the Memphis MOJO tour. Originally, I only bought tickets for myself and my visiting relatives, because my husband refused to go. He had heard that there was singing involved and he wanted no part of having to be on a bus with strangers singing songs and playing the tambourine. A few plans changed and he ended up being forced to spend the time with us, so I bought another ticket for him. Our tour guide was Memphis Jones. I immediately loved the tour. My husband sat there for the first ten minutes with no expression on his face, he was prepared to not like it at all. After the first ten minutes, I noticed that he was smiling. Then he was laughing and later on, he was even tapping out a beat to the music. He now wants to bring all our out of town guests on the Memphis MOJO tour. We learned so much about Memphis music. Memphis Jones is a very talented musician and did a great job of keeping us entertained. It was a great experience which I am sure we will do again! Even the ticket agent, Jake, was cracking us up. I would highly recommend that everyone go on this tour.

Jake was our tour guide and he was hysterical. I only wish there would have been a little more information on Memphis itself, but I guess that was to be expected on a "music" tour. I would definitely recommend the tour!

Our tour guide was excellent. He was funny and very knowledgable. We think we even connected with a ghost named Clyde. Will do it again when we come back to Memphis.

Memphis Jones was an excellent tour guide. His knowledge of the the history of Memphis and the Memphis music scene was incredible. We are only sorry that we didnot do it on our first day in town so we would know what we wanted to spend some more time at. I would skip the brief stop at Sun Studios. Place was too crowded.
