Memphis Mojo Tour aka Heart and Soul Tour
Sat, May 23, 09   10:00 AM dodgegirl Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Our Tour Guide, Memphis Jones, ( which I called the blue-eyed soul brother) was the bomb and took us on a tour of the heart and soul of Memphis. He not only gave us a dash of blues, country, rock and roll, but he threw in a lil' blue-eyed soul that made this soul sister stand-up and take notice. It was the best tour that I have ever been on. The tour bus "Miss Clawdy" was the coolest and very comfortable, and we not only saw the Sun and Stax Recording Studios, the Lorraine Motel, and Beale Street, but we went to little known venues, like the stage where Elvis gave his first live performance, and the housing project where both he and BB King lived. Memphis provided an informative and humorous musical and historical background, and invited audience participation by giving us instruments to play (tambourines and shakers). Even if you can't sing, believe me you will try! It was really fun, and I HIGHLY recommend it. Music is universal and our tour bus had a diverse crowd. There was a seven year old on the tour and even she was dancing and having a good time. So check it out. It's worth every penny.

Not to be missed!

The extended mojo tour is both informative and fun, and is the perfect tour to take if you are a music fan. You have the option to tour either Sun or Stax - we chose Sun and were very impressed. Combining with other groups, there were a total of 50 people on the Sun tour which is a lot of people for a little recording studio.

Informative, Nice Strolling Pace
Fri, May 22, 09   7:30 PM toranota Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
My boyfriend and I were in Memphis for a long weekend, it was the first of two stops we made on a road trip for the long weekend. I have always been fascinated by the ghost stories that haunt towns rich in history and Memphis is one city that I was sure had a few stories in its past -- and therefore some spirtits with "unfinished business." We opted not to take a traditional historical tour of Memphis and went for this ghost tour instead. It was informative, and the guide knew enough of the history of the town (from the Civil War times through the Segregation era) to supplement his stories with known factual information -- believer in ghosts or not. The length of the tour was appropiate, and the pace was leisurely so that our group that varied in age could all enjoy.

So much fun!!!

My husband and I both had a great time on this tour. Our tour guide, "Memphis Jones" was extremely knowledgeable on the history of Memphis adding in little tidbits of info along the tour that we might not have learned anywhere else. The songs in between stops were very entertaining and we loved that we were encouraged to sing along and play instruments with our guide. If you are considering taking this tour and play an instrument, you should definitely bring it with you so you can jam out and make it an even more exciting experience. If you don't play an instrument, take the tour anyway, grab one of their tambourines and have a blast!

Memphis Mojo Tour

My husband and myself, and 2 of our close friends went on this bus tour. We happened to be the only 4 on the bus!! Our tour guide was excellent. He included us all in the tour, with my girlfriend playing the tamborine, and I then played bongo drums. Our guide sang a bunch of songs and explained various parts of the city. Being a hugh Elvis fan, I found this fascinating. The ninety minutes went very quickly. I would highly recommend this tour.

Fun tour of music sites in Memphis

We enjoyed the tour, particularly the personality and talent of the guide/entertainer, Jake. We heard a lot of music facts, saw a lot of music sites, and heard a lot of songs. We enjoyed our stop at Sun Studios. We think this was a unique way to tour Memphis and hear some "non-traditional" history.

Not a big Elvis fan but, the tour was fun and very interesting. Those who are real Elvis fans will enjoy the various activities on this tour. All in all it was great fun.

We Learned A Lot

My friends and my husband and myself were visiting from South Carolina. We chose the Mojo tour in an attempt to learn what activities we would like to pursue in Memphis. The tour was educational and entertaining. The guide was a talented musician and something of a comedian. We enjoyed his descriptions of the musical history of Memphis and many musicians.

My husband and I have taken a few other tours in other cities that were all interesting and adequate, but never so much fun as this one. The tour guide never lost his audience as his enthusiasum was contagious. He is also a musician and the tour narrative was both verbal and musical and he incliuded the tour participants in the music. Great entertainment and much information about the city of Memphis- music and history both. Sheryl and Jim Picco, California

I really enjoyed the tour and our guide! We all had a great time. The tour would be even better if all the stories happened a long time ago.

The Backbeat Bus Tour to Graceland was fun -- a funny musician with good stories -- but it got started late, was shorter than I realized and we were the only 2 people on the bus.

I really had a great time on this tour! I would HIGHLY recommend it to others (which I already have!) and would even take it again with my boyfriend since it was my best friend and I who went on it for her birthday! The tour guide was very knowledgeable and she just made the tour that much more fun! I wont take this tour unless she is the one giving it! Thanks for such a great experience!

The tour guide was funny as well as a good musician. Tour pointed out good Elvis landmarks. It would be a good idea to have an afternoon tour too for those of us who aren't morning people:-) Definitely would recommend this to others!
