love the Memphis ghost tour
Thu, Oct 30, 08   7:30 PM penguino18 Female 20-29 Local Group of Friends
The ghost tour was excellent! Our guide Jessica was very enthusiatic and knowledgable. I thought that I knew a lot about Memphis Architecture and history, but she told us stuff that I had never heard before. It is a well planned and well researched tour that I would recommend to locals and visitors alike.

We enjoyed the walking tour. it showed us parts of memphis we would have never seen. our tour guide, Jessica, was very friendly and informative. As far as ghosts go, we didn't see any, but it was still fun.

Excellent historic tour

The tour was lots of fun with the musical tour guide and his enthusiasm for Memphis musical history. The Sun Studio tour was an amazing experience in a place I would have never gone had it not been for the tour guide. Not being an urban explorer, the tour took us to places I would never go alone, and thus I got to see things I wouldn't have by just driving thorugh Memphis. Its the only way to see Memphis if you don't know the area.

Very Enjoyable

The guide was excellent. He mixed some guitar playing in with different areas of the ride. The shakers and tamborines was fun. I did feel it was a little too heavy on Elvis and not enough on the other musical traditions of Memphis. I would have enjoyed more on the city's history of Jazz and Blues. Case in point the tour stopped at a building worked in. I thought we would probably have to get off the bus so we could then see a toilet that Elvis once took a leak in. But overall it was a very good tour and well worth the price.

Memphis Jones Is Memphis Backbeat is a Must See

My wife and I had high expectations for the tour. We were not dissappointed. Our tour guide was Memphis Jones. When we saw him step on the bus I turned to my wife and said thank god, because hey, he has a reputation. If that's his real name, that's cool. If it's not, I get it, and you will too if you take the tour. I'm sure Memphis Jones has guided this tour a 1000 times , but he hasn't lost any passion for the City of Memphis. Some how he makes you as passionate and interested in the history of Memphis Music as he is. Memphis Music history just oozed out of this guy (sorry for the image). The only bad part about this tour is it ends, as all good things do. We had the sense that Memphis Jones could have gone on for days and not loose your attention for a moment. Heck, I started getting emotional about the whole tour. I found myself wanting to hang out with Memphis Jones on Beale St., but I didn't want him thinking I was stalking him. Seriously, you havn't seen Memphis unless you've seen it with Backbeat Tours, I hope all their guides are even close to this good. It was the highlight of our vacation, and we saw alot of what TN has to offer. We plan on returning to Memphis next year, and we''ll probably take the tour again, he's that good.

A Definite "Must Do"

My husband and I could have spent all day on this bus. Memphis Jones was an amazing guide. A very talented man. His wealth of knowledge was incredible. He had a fantastic sense of humour. He got everyone on the bus involved, we all had an instrument to play. It was definitely a unique tour experience that you would be foolish to miss. I just can't say enough.

BackBeat Graceland Tour, Only Way To See Graceland
Sat, Oct 18, 08   1:00 PM jconnor3 Male 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
This Tour is a great way to see Graceland. I didn't catch our guide's name, I wish I had, he wasn't the infamous Memphis Jones, but he was an excellent tour guide in his own right. He was very knowledgible of Memphis music history and pointed out points of interest from Beale St. to Graceland that we would have not even noticed had we not taken the tour. He was also a great musician and got the whole bus involved. Highly reccomend this and the Mojo Tour.

Really Jazzed Us Up for Graceland!

Everyone who greeted us or served us on the bus tour to Graceland was extremely pleasant. The entertainer really had fun and we had fun! They even sang 'happy birthday' to my mother! Would recommend to anyone doing a tour package. The singing adds a little something.

Inadequate conent

Great idea and wonderful guide; only very VERY thin material. That's the only suggestion - make the stories more varied, with more details, more history and such. Do some research!!!! While it is understandable that given the nature of the topic, nothing "cite-specific" can be added - but spice it up with stories of other kinds, from different places, books, shows... All and all, not really worth the money or time...

Memphis Jones did an excellent job as our tour guide around Memphis. He was a great singer and entertainer. He made the tour a lot of fun. I would definately recommend taking a tour if you're going to be in the Memphis area. I plan on taking another one of the tours the next time we are in town.

Ghost Stories always good for the Halloween season

This was a good tour. the Guide was energetic and knew a great deal about the history of the haunted locations. It would have been nice to have gone inside some of these locations but I understand that this is out of their control. I was suprised to find out that many of the businesses did not want to be asociated with a ghost tour or have any of their guests or customers have any knowledge that anything supernatural may occur to them.

The bus tour was great
Sun, Oct 12, 08   2:30 PM Schwendes Female 70+ Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
The tour guide was very friendly, giving a lot of Memphis history, while he was playing and singing a lot of rock & roll, jazz etc. music. We enjoyed the trip very much. The hour and a half went by very fast and we all had a great time singing along etc. If you like music and also want to get some history of Memphis on the way, I would highly recommend taking the tour.
