We had a group of seven ranging in age from 16 to 60's and all of us loved it. Our host was very entertaining and kept us laughing the entire tour.

Fun for an informative walk, but lacking depth

I enjoyed the Memphis Ghost Tour for the walk downtown, and especially because of our tour guide, Jake. He was friendly and knowledgeable, and really exhibited a fondness for the culture and people of downtown Memphis. But the ghost stories were undeveloped historical anecdotes, and the entire tour took place on the streets. I was really looking forward to stepping foot in a building or two, getting a first-hand look and feel for a story. Didn't happen. What I learned in the tour I could have learned from a library book.

Memphis Jones was extraordinary!!!!!!!! The only problem encountered with the tour was that it ended so soon. I would sign up for a 3 hour tour in a heart beat. Excellent value, good company, and highly recommended.

Memphis Jones rocks!

As two British tourists in Memphis we were unsure as to where to begin. We took a look on Tripadvisor and saw that this tour had been recommended highly. And so it should have been. We toured the downtown area of Memphis in a 1950's style bus, with live music accompaniying the historic sites we visited. Amongst them were Elvis' first home, Sun Studios, the site of Martin Luther King Jr's assasination and the shell music arena. In all honesty the tour would have only been ok if it had not been for Memphis Jones, our tour guide. His extensive knowledge of the musical history of Memphis, musical talents and infectious enthusiasm for it all made the 90 minute tour just fantastic. We spent the whole time laughing, singing and shaking our shakers in time to his guitar. I'm only sorry the tour had to end and a further location to enjoy Memphis Jones' humour and music wasn't available. If you want to have a lot of fun while touring Memphis, this is the way to do it.

Perfect trip through music history

If you love music and want to get to know the stories behind great songs from Elvis, Johnny Cash or Jerry Lee Lewis - this is the right trip for you. and you can hear (and sing along to) all the great songs because your tour guide is a musician himself who has done a great job telling the stories as well as performing on the bus. By the way, the bus itself is an adventure. It's a classic. Highly recommend doing this tour, it's fun, music and history at once - never boring, but just awesome

This tour was awesome, entertaining, and informative! Memphis Joe was our tour guide on the Memphis Mojo Tour and I highly recommend this tour! He plays the guitar and sings, and tells the stories of rock 'n roll legends. My daughter and I loved it! You've got to take this tour. You will not regret it! We also took the Walking Ghost Tour! Loved it too! Our guide was very entertaining and informative as well.

I really enjoyed the woman that took us on it. She was very good at storytelling. The tour was fine but would be better if you could enter some of the buildings. Especially the apt where the DJ was killed. I would think they would allow it since it is just a model. Might be worth checking into if you haven't already.

Had fun but slightly disappointed

After looking at several tours available in Memphis, the only one we unanimously agreed on was the Mojo Tour. The tour guide was talented, engaging & entertaining & did a fantastic job. We were disappointed that the tours of both Sun Studio & Staax Museum were not available on the Saturday we took the tour. We were looking forward to touring those & our family all felt let down that we couldn't. Other than that, the tour was a good time.

It was awesome! Our tour guide, Jake, was funny, musically talented, and knowledgeable. Probably the best bus tour in Memphis! Thanks for a great time.

Not Very Good

I have been on several ghost tours of different cities, and I have to say that this one was probably the worst. The guide was very friendly, but honestly, did not provide us with much. She told a couple of short stories, but wasn't able to really verify much of anything. She brought us by a couple of places, and although I expected that we probably wouldn't be going in anywhere, there were several places she would talk very briefly about and we would be on our way before we could even stop to take a look. There was one area that we stopped and she talked about many orbs being found. Now we know that most orbs are dust or bugs. The guide also talked about being terrified of ghosts and the only reason she was giving us the tour was because she knew she would have people with her. She talked a lot about herself, her husband, how she was an actress, etc. It actually got to the point that it was boring. The last place we went, the upstairs of a bar, she told us we should all buy a beer so the owner would possibly let us look upstairs. We did buy some beers, and were granted the opportunity to look upstairs, which was nice. Nothing there of course, but I didn't expect something to jump out at me. Oh yes, and at one point in the tour the guide brought us to an old train station. We all stood on the sidewalk as she told us the story of a dead janitor that whistles. She then told everyone to put the ears against the door to listen. What? Standing on the street, putting our ears against a door to see if we can hear a whistling ghost? Seemed very silly to me. We ended, not at where we began, but somewhere that us out-of-towners had no idea where we were. I found this odd, as most tours I've been on end where we began so we don't have to pay money for a bus/taxi/trolley, etc. We could have walked, but it was quite a ways away from where we started. So, she pointed us to the right trolley and we left. It was a bit entertaining at times, but mostly boring. I would skip this and save your ghost tour experience for the next time you're in Chicago.

We saw a lot of different things in Memphis (there's more to it than just Elvis). The guide and bus driver worked really well together and both were great at what they did.
