Although Megan was very nice, our tour started off ROUGH! The add described the tour as leisure walking. Megan walked so fast that half of the group had trouble keeping up. She would talk to people at the front while she was walking, so no one in the back could hear what was said at that time. The whole walk seemed rushed, as if we were behind schedule. I was very disappointed that we never saw the cobblestone river landing, stalked by a serial killer in the 1970s; Barboro Alley, the bloody Civil War hospital (and former slave market) of Howard's Row, or voodoo fields. The reason my friend and I booked the 2 hour tour instead of the 1 hour tour was because we thought it offered more to see (NOT!). Had it not been for the tour of the brothel, I would have been LIVID at the thought of paying $20 for what I WALKED TOO SWIFTLY BY!
Suggestions: start the tour earlier in front of the Orpheum Theater. Megan told an interesting story there and said that we could come back in the daytime to go inside. It would have been nice if the tour started a little earlier in front of the theatre so that one could either go inside, or look in from the street. The Gayoso House part of the tour should have taken place in front of the alley entrance off of Main (next to the Center For Folklore store). It sets the mood better. Megan could have told the story part there and then led us to the end of the alley to get pics. She did lead us by a hotel, on the way to our refreshment break (a nice touch needed by most). Because Megan talked while she walked, I couldn't hear the first part of the story she told there, so I didn't "get it". Earnestine and Hazel's was the highlight that made the tour interesting! Megan told us the burgers were great, so my party went back the next afternoon and the food and service were EXCELLENT. We toured the brothel again, and it was scarier in the daytime than it had been the night before! On a scale of 1-10, I'd rate this tour a 6 (had it not been for Earnestine and Hazel's I would have rated the tour a 4). I was disappointed that I paid extra to see the same thing $13 would have gotten me and that Megan walked so fast and talked while doing so at times. If you choose a darkside tour, $13 is PLENTY! |

The tour guide was fantastic. So was the tour. Get a great historical background of the city and see many things you probably wouldn't see on your trip. At one point you get to go to the top of a hotel and get a magnificent view of the Mississippi. THis is an absolute must if you are going to Memphis |

The tour was awesome. Our tour guide, Megan, was a lot of fun. Very funny and informative. Great energy. The stories were very entertaining, from Mary the happy theatre goer, to the Gayosa building with the haunting ghost, and to the brothel where ghost of prostitutes lock you in bathrooms. An absolute must. The only thing is, if you do this tour, do not do the dark memphis tour. It is the same thing. Zerve does a poor job of differentiating the two tours. Do one or the other, not both. |

Maybe I didn't research this enough but I was under the impression we would be going inside the places that they advertised but instead we were just standing on the side walk listening to ghost stories. Our guide was very nice and her stories are detailed if that's what your looking for you'll love it if you want to experience anything then this is the wrong tour. We only went in one building at the very end of the tour. We were pretty disappointed overall. |

The guide (Brandon) was excellent and very knowledgeable. He was very considerate in seeing that we were all comfortable with the pace, and that we could all hear what he was saying. Even though the temperature was in the 90's that day and the sun was beating down on us the whole time, we thoroughly enjoyed the tour. The historic district, the Peabody Ducks, the riverfront view from the top of one of the tall buildings (I forget which one), and the trolley ride were all very interesting. A good way to spend a couple of hours in Memphis! Thank You! |

I like to take these tours in each city that has them. It's a great way to learn the history of a city and see places that you may not know about otherwise. The stories a fantastic and overall the staff was great. |

My daughter and I went on the 11:30 tour with our drinks in hand. The tour guide was very informative
and a lot of fun, and boy could he sing! The hour and a half flew by and before we knew it, it was already over. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone, and actually already have! |

This is a fabulous tour!!! A must for every American! We did this this as our first tour after we arrived in Memphis. It was great to see all the historical sites in one package and then decide what we would explore individually. Very fun, loved the music... Families, groups, or single this tour is worth every penny. Great city, great staff, great tour guide, time efficient ...can't wait to go again next month! |

I have been living in Memphis for about a year now and my mom and I wanted to get out and do something fun and unusual so we decided to try out this tour. Our tour guide was Megan and she did a great job! She was very informative and enthusiastic. She said she had only been giving the tour for about 2 months but i would have never been able to tell without her saying so. I learned a lot about the history of the area and the ghost stories that I probably would have never found out about otherwise. Overall great tour and would recommend to anyone including locals. |

A very informative and also high energy tour of the city of Memphis. Our tour guide, Nancy Apple, knew her history of the city and also played the music that influenced the city so much. Country, rockabilly, soul, she knew it all! It was a great way to see the highlights of the city and learn so much. Thanks! |

This tour was not your usual city tour, but it was definitely an enjoyable and fun way to see and hear about Memphis and those who have walked its streets in the past! A great way to spend an afternoon; the time seemed to pass quickly...well organized and very interesting. The bus driver did a great job of slowing down or pulling over to let us actually see what was being talked and sung about. We would definitely do the Mojo tour again!!! |
