Was interesting but I had my mom with me and she is 69 with bad knees and could not keep up with the pase the tour guide walked. Very fast pase until he stopped to talk. Great for younger folks or even my age but for seniors I would not recommend it. Plus, there really wasn't much to the tour. So okay - but I would not do again.

Great Music, great tour!

I highly recommend this tour, especially if your tour guide and musician is Memphis Jones. He is great and very personable and a very good musician and singer. The tour is fun, you get to play along and sing as well. Plus you get a good history of the Memphis music and I learned a few things that i did not know about very well known songs and singers and you do i all on a 1950's era bus. Definitely worth the money.

Our Memphis Walking Ghost Tour was the highlight of our trip. Not only was our tour guide funny ... he was also very knowledgeable about the area and the vivid pictures he painted for us was as intense as it was interesting. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone in the Memphis area who is interested in the paranormal ... and even those who aren't. I guarantee that even the most skeptic person alive would enjoy the stories about the town and the past inhabitants there.

My daughter, 16, and I took this tour based on a different tour we had taken previously and how much we had enjoyed it. The upside: There was a great deal of interesting information about Elvis on this tour. Not the least of which is the fact that one can rent out the apartment where the Presley family lived at Lauderdale Courts!! The tour around the city to get a glimpse of places associated With Elvis' life was very interesting. Our bus driver was extremely knowledgeable of Elvis lore and trivia. Also, having taken another tour that included some Elvis info, this tour did not feel like a duplication of that at all. The tour is very upbeat, and it is fun to use the hand-held instruments provided to join in the songs. The not-so-upside: The songs sung on the tour were mostly very early-Elvis tunes. While these were pertinent, they weren't (for the most part) the most well known. Where were Heartbreak Hotel, Can't Help Falling In Love, All Shook Up, Love Me Tender, Are You Lonesome Tonight, Return to Sender, Crying in the Chapel. We would have loved to hear the background info on the recording of Are you Lonesome Tonight, wherein Elvis starts laughing and can't stop. Also, while we know that Elvis recorded at Sun Studios, the tour there is only partially about Elvis. It's an interesting tour, but would have chosen to leave that part out and learn more about Elvis only, since the tour billing is about him. (The Sun Studios tour time - in all - was 1 hour and 20 minutes of the total 2 hours and 45 minute tour.) Also - and we fully realize this couldn't be helped - the *old* circa 1962 bus we were supposed to tour on was in disrepair. Instead, we toured on a 15 passenger shuttle bus. It wasn't quite the same, as we had the older bus experience on our first tour.

Interesting and Fun

My family was here from out of town and we really enjoyed this walking tour, it gave us a little bit of history about Memphis and we heard good stories. It was very fun going into the Cayenne Moon. We would have liked to have gone inside more establishments but for the price and the time it was a very fun tour. Our guide was funny and approachable and knew his stuff.

Enntertaining, good

Different, creative, good host/guide. The only negative detail that made the tour a bit uncomfortable was the extreme cold temperature inside the bus; specially since it was a very cloudy and rainy day. It would also have helped if the stop at Sun Studio had been a bit longer. The place was so packed with visitors that it was practically impossible to even buy a hot cup of chocolate or walk to the bathroom.

Almost Perfect

This was the piece de resitance of a Medicare Maidens Mempis Madness Tour and it almost was. We boarded the bus and began the tour, and were surprise that the musician had to tell the bus driver where to go. The musician began talking, and talking and talking - pointing out things of interest. After nearly 25 minutes he played his first song. It was good. He was good, but the music didn't start soon enough. He later explained that he was "short handed" because the tour guide didn't come. So he was having to do the talking tour AND play the keyboard. He was good at both, but not simultaneously. No one could be. At the very beginning, as we got on the bus,we saw tamborines on the front seat. Finally, for the last 15 minutes of the tour, I reached over and asked the musician if we could play them. It seemed he had forgotton all about us playing along with him. My group enjoyed this, but it fell short of expectations, because he was understaffed.

Bring on the Mojo!

We read about the Backbeat tour in a hotel brochure and decided to try the Mojo tour. It was a blast riding on Miss Clawdy while being entertained by the wonderfully informative Memphis Jones. He can sing, he can play guitar, and he can dish out the trivia about the city and its music history. He really knows his stuff! It was especially fun playing in the back-up band with our shakers, tambourines, and mini bongo drums. We would highly recommend this tour to anybody visiting Memphis for the first time. It's a great way to get the lay of the land while learning interesting tidbits about the musical history and its stars who've made Memphis what it is.

I am from here, and my date has lived here for well over a decade ~ but we learned more on this tour about Memphis music history than we'd been exposed to all along. The tour was thoroughly entertaining, enjoyable, educational ... our guide, "Memphis Jones," was very knowledgable about Memphis music history and was able to convey interesting information in an entertaining way. We are definitely going to take any out-of-towners who visit us on this same tour whenever they come into town. I very enthusiastically recommend this tour as a great way to learn and enjoy oneself doing so!!

Memphis Jones is a great musician and loved his singing. He made the tour interesting with his insight into the history of the singers and town. The music enhanced the tour and encouraged audience participation with the musical instruments provided.
