This tour was fun, but I could have used an extra 30 to 45 minutes to hear more stories of the city. I would go again one day.

The highlight of our stay in Memphis.

My husband and I booked this tour not knowing quite what to expect and it was the highlight of our stay! I think we were lucky to have Garry Hardy as our guide. Having been born and bred in Memphis he was so knowledgeable, entertaining and enthusiastic about his subject. He is also a very accomplished singer and guitar player and entertained us throughout the tour. A bus ride has never been such fun! The guide at Sun Studios was also brilliant and the tour was fascinating. In the evening (Sunday) we returned to the cafe where the tour started to listen to Garry some more and enjoyed the Ribs there. Thank You! Carol Jillins

The Mojo tour was fantastic! This was my third time on the tour and I still learned so much about the history of Memphis and Memphis music. Our tour guide, Gary, was excellent and informative in so many areas. Anytime I have friends or family visit from out of state, I try to get us on a Backbeat tour!

Try to avoid big tour crowds if possible. I felt my experience was disrupted when our large group of people combined with another tour group. Not everyone respected those trying to listen to the tour guide.

Memphis Jones provided great entertainment for our tour...playing favorite songs and interjecting humor while providing interesting information to the stops along the way. Many of us played tambourines and used shakers to keep time with the music that Memphis played. I highly recommend this tour! Also, the Blues City Cafe has the best Memphis BBQ ribs...enjoy!!

Really fun but light on information

The tour guide was very entertaining and talented. It could have been better if he'd provided more facts/history/information. Very enjoyable but not so educational...

we enjoyed the ride, the host was funny (maybe just a little too in to the musical history part), but overall a pleasant afternoon. Would have like to have heard more about some of the local older buildings history, a few more stops to get off the bus and look around, maybe a tour or two of some of the places we just drove by. But overall a good experience and well worth the money. Although i probably wouldn't take the tour again, i'm glad we did once anyway.

This is the best tour in Memphis!

I read about this tour in one of my Travel books and signed up for the Big Mogo Tour that included a tour of Sun Studios. Many tours provided us with a tape recorder and headphones, but the Backbeat Tour as well as the Sun Studios tour were given by enthusiastic, knowledgeable, entertaining and fun tour guides. Memphis Jones was our tour guide on the BackBeat tour bus (which was comfortable and air conditioned) and made the tour so much fun. Our driver, Howard was amazing. It's not easy to navigate a big bus along the side streets of Memphis with people darting in and out all the time. We learned so much more about the history of music and the history of Memphis from Memphis Jones. After the tour, we saw him carrying his guitar back home walking through Beale Street and he stopped to talk with us again. If you can only take one tour in Memphis, I highly recommend this one.

Our guide was fantastic! SO much fun! I wish I could remember half of what he told us. He sang, got a sing long going, and was funny as hell. The bus was comfortable and the driver was superb. I would recommend this tour highly

I was recently in Memphis for work, and my cousin and I decided to take this walking tour. It was so much fun, and we learned so much about Memphis. It really didn't feel like you were walking for 2 hours, and the places that were mentioned surprised me. I didn't know that Memphis had so much history. The tour guide, Brandon (if I'm remembering his name correctly), was great and so knowledgeable about the city. You would think he was a native, but thru his research, he knows so much about the city and is so willing to share his knowledge (ask him about cotton ... lol). Memphis is a great town, and I cannot wait to visit again, take more Blackbeat tours and see more of the museums and sites that I missed this time around because of work.

This ghost tour lacked "substance." No visuals.
Thu, Oct 6, 11   8:00 PM mgberry Female 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
This tour would have been enhanced by going inside some of the buildings or at least providing some visuals, like the before and after. It was easy to hear the tour guide, but he didn't do much to engage his audience.

We had a great few hours rocking along in the ol' bus with Memphis Jones as our expert & enthusiastic tour guide. This guy certainly knows his stuff and is very entertaining with it! Certainly one of the best tours that we did in America. Adrienne & Greg Youd from Perth, Australia.
