Highly recommend this tour!

I highly recommend this musical bus tour through Memphis. The tour guide had a tremendous enthusiasm for and knowledge of blues music and its roots in Memphis. We learned so much on this tour, and thoroughly enjoyed actively participating in the songs and stories. There were stories and details we would not have heard otherwise on our trip to Memphis, such as the first place where Elvis played for a large crowd, and an even a story about Johnny Cash "performing" at a bake sale just to get recognized. I would have liked to visit longer and more in-depth at Sun Records, but recognized the constraints of the tour only allowed for a quick restroom break. I know there are other types of tours offered, but I give this one an A++

The Highlight of My Memphis Weekend
Sat, Jun 26, 10   2:30 PM fourbebe Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
This tour was absolutely the most fun, entertaining, and informative thing that my friends and I did the entire weekend in Memphis. The tour guide was hilarious! I laughed more on this tour than at a comedy club. The guide was also very passionate about the city and all its history. It was neat how he would sing songs and play the guitar while the tour bus passengers shook tamborines and little shaker things. Because of this tour, I got to see many parts of Memphis that I would have not seen otherwise. I had just been around the Beale Street area, but the tour drove by St. Jude's Children's hospital, Sun Studio, Stax Studio, the Lorraine Motel, and many other places. At first, I was a little weary of the price for the tour. But I promise that it is well worth the 30 or so dollars. I hope to go back to Memphis and take this tour again. It is just that great!

JAKE IS FLY!

The tour was interesting from the standpoint of all of the historic sites involved. The tour guide, Jake Fly, was worth most of the price of admission as he used cheesy humor, panache, and gifted guitar-playing and singing to win over his group. Request a tour with Jake as your guide. If you like musical history and guided chemistry, Jake Fly is your guy!

Fun fun fun!

We took this tour last weekend w/ MemphisJones! What FUN! We had a blast, singing, playing our instruments, listening to the lightning-speed delivery of a tour guide who will be remembered as one of our all-time favorites. He sings, he entertains, he tells jokes, he's fun, he's cute, he's a wealth of information! Even though it was stinkin' hot on our tour and the A/C was not doing the job on the old bus, no one seemed to mind too much. What a rare combination: a little bit camp, a little bit informative, and a lot lot fun!

My wife and I enjoyed the music and very entertaining tour guide, Memphis Jones. We certainly learned things about Memphis that we did not know and it was done in ways that were very entertaining. I would highly recommend the tour to any of our friends that are visiting Memphis.

I was really looking to this tour, hearing tales and getting "spooked." First of all, it wasn't a walking tour- unless you call getting on & off a bus walking. I find it hard to believe this is ever a walking tour as we drove around so much. Several of the stops were simply that- stops...don't get off the bus & take a photo out the window. The places we did get off the bus for were just big old houses. I can look at those on my own time for free. The tour guide was a horrible (awful. terrible.) story teller and lost my interest immediately. I love hearing tales of days gone past and the darker side of things, but this tour left me bored. Don't waste your money on this tour. Opt for the Mojo or Sun Studio tours instead.

Loved it, loved it, loved it. Having just moved to Northwestern Mississippi we are of course trying to find our way around the area. Memphis is great and Beale street is fantastic, but, until you have experienced the Backbeat MoJo Tour you haven't seen anything yet. We had an awesome guide... Memphis Jones.... I will be bringing everyone who comes to visit our family on this tour. Ninety minutes wasn't enough, we could have stayed on that bus all day.

First of all Memphis was one of the most beautiful, friendly, affordable and cultural cities we've visited on our 6-week tour of the U.S. The tour was an excellent start of our two day visit. We were exposed to the basic culture and history of the city by the most entertaining and passionate tour guide. His singing and running commentary was upbeat and possitive. I would recommend this tour to all.

Different expectations

Perhaps my expectations were too high, as I'd never been on Ghost walk tour before. Jessica is energetic, knowledgeable, personable, and a great storyteller. I did enjoy hearing about Clyde, Mary, Edward and the rest. I just thought we would be going into places like the theater, for instance. I did get a few small orbs on camera. My feelings about the tour are tainted by the group of about 6 local residents who were completely drunk and obnoxious. They arrived drunk and continued drinking throughout the tour. We were on a bus part of the time, and could not hear the guide over their loud conversations, even though she had a microphone. Twice the group had to wait for someone to come back from a bathroom, and yet, they kept on drinking. Obviously, there's no way to prevent this, but there should be a protocol in place in order to handle people like that so that the tour is not ruined for others. It was like being at a frat party, which I didn't appreciate since it made it difficult to focus on Jessica, and also because I had my teenage sons with me. Had my kids been younger, I would have left the tour quickly, due to the lewd comments and behavior.
