The Center for Birds of Prey

Fascinating place...staff is extremely knowledgeable and committed...we learned a lot and saw birds (hawks, falcons, owls, etc) that we would never have a chance to see anywhere else (and saw them fairly "up close and personal")!

Great introduction to adaptive biology; interactive; great leaders; entertainng for a group that included 6 year olds to 96 year olds.

We didn't know what to expect and were very supprised. Walking around seeing the birds was a unique experience. We talked to the owls for quite a while. Then it was tim foe the educatiional tour. It was extremely well do and focus on what the group was interested in. The highlight was when the black vulture walked over and greeted us. Lastly was the breathtaking fly away. We were within 1 foot of the falcon and owl. The kit flew within 1 inch of our head. We will definitely be back!!!!!!!!!

I had been to the Center before having transported raptors from the zoo in Columbia but my husband had not. He enjoyed it and I enjoyed it again because it's a little different each time. I highly recommend it - especially for families.

A wonderful way to spend the day! Learned so much, great crowd, right "in your face" flight demonstrations. Wonderful owls. Can't say enough!

Steve gave an outstanding program while describing the facility, the walking tour, and the flight demonstrations. An amazing spectacle to see and an incredible amount of very interesting facts to learn about all that the Birds of Prey hospital and facility does for these birds. This is a program that everyone in Charleston needs to see.

Very nice visit, the guided tour was very interesting and informative for everyone. the flight demonstration was also great. Our kids really enjoyed it. Well worth visiting.

The Center for Birds of Prey is very well organized and managed, and it is obvious that the employees and volunteers care very much about wild birds. My husband and I have visited a number of non-profit sanctuaries and for-profit zoos around the country, and we were very impressed with The Center for Birds of Prey in Awendaw. The employees are well-educated, friendly, patient and easy to locate. They are enthusiastic about wild birds and enjoyed answering lots of questions. The flight demonstrations were incredible! In short, The Center for Birds of Prey is absolutely a place that we look forward to revisiting and taking all of our family and friends. I strongly suggest that you visit, too, if you are at all interested in wild birds. We felt that our experience was worth much more than the cost of entrance.

The staff was wonderful and very knowledgable. They answered all kinds of questions, the flight demonstration was wonderful. We very much enjoyed all the species of birds. My friend especially enjoyed Owl Park. My grandson loved all of it and wants to return to volunteer!!!

At The Center For Birds of Prey you get an up-close look at some amazing birds, a very informative tour, access to the grounds including the Owl Sanctuary, & impressive flight demonstrations with several of the birds. It's only a few minutes outside of Mount Pleasant, and well worth the short trip.

I won't write an essay. The leaders were superior in their knowledge and ability to get their information out to us. The in- flight demonstrations were superior also. So close up and real. I wouldn't change a thing in the whole presentaation you give. Thanks Woody

I am 75 and Thomas, my grandson, is 11. We are both amazed at the new learnings we each acquired. Our tour leader was responsive, passionate, and informative. The Flight Demo was awesome. We arrived early enough to tour the Owl Barns quietly and with as much time as we wanted. I have been to the Center before determined this was a 'can't miss' opportunity for youth to learn about our environment and our impact. We'll come again!

The tour and free fliight demonstration was extremely educational, and at the same time was incredibly entertaining. The facility is great, the staff is wonderful, and the display of birds is exceptional. We had a wonderful time and will definitely put this on our agenda for future visits when friends come to stay with us. The work done here is extremely important in maintaining the balance in nature by returning birds to the wild, and in educating us about the importance of conservation and in providing us with guidance on how we can help. It is important to support this facility and the incredible work they do.
