We visited the area last year and took one of the competitor's tours. We have now done several of these types of tours over the years in various cities. Rebel was excellent! Very warm and friendly, Her conversation was a mix of scientific theory, history, and her own experiences. She kept us very entertained the entire 2 hours. We intend to do the other black cat tour next time we are in Charleston.

This was an excellent tour! Our guide, Rebel is a wonderful storyteller that kept us wanting to search for the ghosts that are wandering around Charleston. She created an ambiance that made us feel as though we had traveled back in time to witness the actual event. My family even went back the next day to retrace our steps to continue the journey on our own. I would highly recommend Black Cat Tours and will go again when we revisit Charleston.

I love history and have taken many tours over the years in Charleston. This was an interesting take on the history of Charleston. I really had never thought of the scandalous side of this seaport town. The guide was very enthusiastic and you could tell he loved what he did. I would take this tour again...with the right individuals, as it is not for everyone.

First, let me say the tour guide was very entertaining. My male companion LOVED it, and perhaps it should be recommended for men only. I was put off when the tour guide suggested he give my companion and "escort services" phone number and how he glorified the exploits of Senator Thurman married at 70 plus to a minor. I guess it just struck a raw nerve. My male companion was all "atwitter" and thought the exploits of a dirty old man deserved a handshake and "atta boy" slap on the back. I was disgusted. But, then again, I am 45 and did not find it amusing or flattering for the guide and my friend to be chortling like filthy old men; nor was it found amusing for the offer of a prostitutes phone number. Just my personal thoughts. I found it insulting to be relayed in my presence.

We had a wonderful tour guide, very knowledgeable! Was a little disappointed we didn't actually go into any of the buildings or locations. Would definately recommend this tour.

Not something that I would normally do but it was a lot of fun.

I'm a local but learned a few things about the darker and dirtier side of Charleston that I did not know. I would recommend this tour for anyone interested in learning something about the city not found on your usual walking tour.

The tour was great and you learned so much about Charleston and its history. It's not your typical ghost tour by any means. You walk the old streets and back alleys and learn what really happened so many years ago. The tour guide knows her stuff and connects well with the group. A tour that is a must if visiting Charleston.

After going on a Ghost Tour that was not so great one night during our stay, we decided to try another tour and booked with Black Cat Tours. We are so glad we did! The guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She was an amazing guide! Do not try the other companies-waste of your time and money. This one is the best! I will book another tour with them when I come back to Charleston.

The guide's personal knowledge of the Charleston area and his enthusiasm for some of its more colourful history added to the fun in this tour.

We were there for the weekend and this tour seemed to have the best reviews. It was as good as others we passed by on our own tour. The tour lady was nice but a little odd. I would imagine you would have to be!

What you "thought" you knew abotu Charleston may be skewed a little :)

It was interesting & I learned things I didn't know about Charleston. BUT, the focus seemed to be so heavy on the brothels & not enough extra information on the "murders & crooked politicians, gangsters & wayward ministers". The tour guide was interesting, though, but needs to do a bit more delving & maybe just highlight the "extra" brothels & have some other things to focus on as well....
