After many a trip to beautiful Charleston, this was the first time I had ever taken a walking tour of any kind. I am now a committed believer that the only way to understand the historic city you are visiting is to take a walking tour led by a knowledgeable and dynamic tour guide. You can not go wrong with any of the Black Cat tours offered. The husband and wife team are a shear delight. Dressed in costume, the night tours by lantern light adds to the ambiance and feel of the old Holy City. Both are eloquent speakers and their knowledge of the area and history shine through. The Haunted Charleston tour was much more cerebral than just walking around being told what happened where. Rebel Sinclair makes you think. About life, death, unfulfilled dreams, unfinished business and love. Her passion for the history of the people and the city is genuine - this is not merely a night job. Likewise, husband Mark Jones offers a FREE Battery tour which we took the following morning. Again we were delighted with the unselfish sharing of his knowledge and fresh point of view as he explained in detail the architectural details of the city, the families who built them and the legacy left behind. We were so glad that we picked Black Cat tours over the countless other tour companies available. I hope you do the same. You will not be disappointed.

The tour was great and you learned so much about Charleston and its history. It's not your typical ghost tour by any means. You walk the old streets and back alleys and learn what really happened so many years ago. The tour guide knows her stuff and connects well with the group. A tour that is a must if visiting Charleston.

We were there for the weekend and this tour seemed to have the best reviews. It was as good as others we passed by on our own tour. The tour lady was nice but a little odd. I would imagine you would have to be!

This is the review I left on Trip Advisor: We like ghost tours; the creepy, cold chills, the more "out there" the better! Rebel's tour started out that way. She had the perfect mix of a creepy, mystery, history and thought-provoking tour. As with any good story-teller, there is always a hint of theatrics, the drama that builds, that pulls you in gets you involved. This described the first half of Rebel's tour and we loved it! Then, about half way through it changed. Rebel became over-dramatic and became harder to understand and follow what she was saying. (Thinking back, I think she hinted that things would "change", though I may be wrong.) By the end of it my daughter thought she was possessed! Seriously though, I think she just got carried away, but it totally killed the mood. At one point it even looked and sounded as if she might cry because of the sadness of the situation she was describing. It was just over the top and not in a good way. I really liked Rebel and the first half of the tour was awesome, so I hate it that I can't give her high marks all around!

My wife and I truly enjoyed our ADULT walking tour. It was, as billed, not your normal family tour, certainly not for the children. The adult content added a unique twist to the history of Charleston and made the information conveyed very interesting.

I was impressed by the stories that were told and the walk we took. I would like to hear more about historical ghost stories as this town has so much history, murder, war,pirates, etc. 1.5 hrs is plenty long enough . would recommend tour to others

My mother recently moved to Charleston for work, so, when I came to visit, we had a lot of exploring to do. We chose Balck Cat because of the stellar reviews, and were not disappointed. Rebel was enthusiastic, theatrical, and charming. It's very clear that she is well-versed in this particular area of interest and very passionate, as she seemed to be having just as much fun as we were. Though the stunning architeture and vast history of the sites could almost speak for themselves, she added vivid stories and, of course, a heavy dose of haunting creepiness. My only regret is that I did not have enough time to take her husband's tour during my stay, but I'm pleased to add yet another glowing review to the pile!

I have been on many, many ghost tours in various cities including other tours in Charleston. This was a refreshing take on it. Rebel was extremely knowledgeable and the tour was the perfect mix of history, stories and commentary. It was also a plus that the tour group is limited to a certain number. I have been on tours with 30+ and it is impossible for everyone to hear and enjoy. I would definitely recommend this tour.

10 minutes into the tour a heavy downpour of rain began soaking us from head to toe. unable to concentrate we left the tour. unfortunatly "no rain checks" so we feel we wasted our money

Highly recommend this tour of Downtown Charleston!! Our host Rebel is very knowledgable and an engaging speaker!! We learned so much about the grand history of Charleston and even have photographic evidence of energy vortexes and spirit orbs!!! Myself, my adult son and my mother attended the tour, and each of us is very happy with the experience!!

Rebel gave an excellent tour. She is a passionate story teller that will keep you riveted. Lots of unique info. given here that you likely won't get on your standard tour. If you are looking for a scare or for people to jump out at you this is not it. I'm not sure why people think that's what hanuted/ghost tours are about! You will get a more detailed and intimate account of the way people lived, died and perhaps still roam among us in Charleston...

We were apprehensive about a ghost tour, but this was a very worthwhile evening and a great experience overall. Rebel was knowledgeable and friendly. It was obvious how much she appreciated the history of the city. We would highly recommend and would go on the tour again! It was a great way to start our visit to Charleston.
