Lackluster storytelling - I should have went for the ghosts. Definitely not worth the money!

I was fortunate to ask around and be given the name of Black Cat Tours; as their brochure was not available at my hotel. I thought Rebel did a great job of telling the stories in a true paranomal nature, which I really liked. She painted a vivid picture of Charleston's history; and was quite knowledgeable. I felt like I found a hidden gem.

The tour guide, Rebel made the tour both interesting and fun. She is very knowledgeable and believes in what she is doing. It was the highlight of our Charleston stay and we will definitely take the tour with Rebel the next time we are in Charleston. I cannot say enough about Rebel. She even contacted another tour guide to get some information for us.

"Rebel" is quite enthusiastic with her information, and well educated on her subject. There was a bit of changing "in and out" of character which was a bit disconcerting. Also, having to wait for other tours to finish at certain locations certainly disturbed the "mood" of the walk. The fact that there were three teenage girls in the group meant that several times our great tour guide appeared to "edit" her information. We would probably take this tour again, but probably would book the later one to try to avoid these problems.

We would highly recommend this tour! A refreshing difference from the "everything in Charleston was always wonderful and everyone was happy!" tours that we often see in this and other cities. We were disappointed, however, that the local Waldenbooks not only did not have any of the recommended books, but furthermore an inquiry of an employee led to a disdainful, pursed lips response of "No, we don't have any of THOSE books", without an offer to order them, or direct us to someone who would have them.

We definitely recommend this tour for those visiting Charleston who want to learn more about the other side of Charleston's history. The tour moves throughout the city and lets you visit sites where "odd" occurrences have occurred in the past. The tour leaders are very informative and know their history well. They are open to any questions and make the tour fun as well as educational.

Our group thoroughly enjoyed Rebel's narration of the various "ghost stories". It was interesting to see and hear about various locations of sightings. Her enthusiasm and interest in Charleston's history made the tour a most pleasant experience despite the heat.

Really enjoyed this tour. It was nice to learn a little history that you don't hear about in schools. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. I would reccomend this tour to everyone.

We have been on many tours around the world, including domestic (Williamsburg, New Orleans), and international (Italy, Germany, Australia) and this is one of the best tour companies we have experienced. I have been on two of their tours, on two different trips to Charleston. I like that you know who your tour guide will be. With other companies it's a crap-shoot. With larger companies you never know, you might get a great tour guide... but you might not!! Go with Black Cat. They're great.. you won't be disappointed.

I would not choose to do it again had I known what it was going to be like. Tour guide was nice and friendly.

Enjoyed stories that Mark related to the group. Would have been nice to go inside the houses we saw.

This was our second tour with Black Cat and as before, we were entertained educated and amused by Mark Jones. We look forward to continue sending our friends and ourselves to enjoy other tours that Black Cat provides.

I loved this walking tour! I've been coming to Charleston since I was a child to visit relatives, but I never walked the streets at night, which was interesting in itself. Rebel really knows her stuff, and she made the ghost stories come alive with her flair for storytelling. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in some different and not as well known stories of Charleston.

The tour was a small group as promised. The stories were entertaining and had pictures and documents to back up claims. The guide was playful and made the tour fun. He would have been a history teacher that I could have followed! Found out some things that were unusual about the founding of the City.

I researched the different tours available in Charleston and decided to take this tour based on the reviews. I was very happy with my decision as the tour guide was very enthusiastic and he definitely entertained us. This tour was definitely worth it and I would highly recommend it! It was definitely a big part of me thoroughly enjoying my first Charleston visit.
