Driver picked us up at hotel promptly. Picked up two other couples. Driver and guests were on time. Set out in evening sunlight after brief instruction, child under 16 provided a life vest, a plus for safety. Paddled out to mangroves, turned to see setting sun. Put on headlamps. Some information about mangroves and sea life given. Would like more detail on mangroves. Small group size was perfect. Groups requesting tandem were accommodated. Instruction for what to do-break down paddle, turn off lights-was great. Guide seemed to know how to get around the puzzle like mangroves.
Getting back was organized as we went to docks. Driver was safe and courteous and there when we were done. |

We just returned from Key West and were exceptionally disappointed in Saturday evening's tour. First, the guide we had was a real smart a#$ with everyone. He seemed genuinely disinterested in our group and in giving the tour as a whole. In fact--he NEVER even provided his name to our group (I wish I knew his name because I would recommend that you avoid this guy at all costs). Second, he kept getting too far ahead of everyone and nobody could hear a word that he was saying. Third (and beyond the guides control), we could only explore one mangrove channel as the tide was low and the kayaks couldn't get in to any of the other areas. Finally, the guide cut our tour short by 30-minutes (I guess I should be thankful given our experience).
We used this same group last year for a kayak tour (the day trip) and the trip was really good (we also had an excellent guide--James). We were so excited to go on this night tour after our overall experience from last year but what an utter disappointment. There are tons of other kayak tours available so I would recommend that you pursue other options.
I would also recommend that Blue Planet be a little more up-front about the night tour in that many mangrove areas cannot be reached due to the low tides. I definitely feel like we got ripped off and this was overall a LOUSY experience. Oh and find some better tour guides (maybe ones that actually LIKE the paying customers). What a JERK! |

Our guide (the owner Chad) took us out and did an awesome job teaching this group of teachers and making it a very memorable experience. We were disappointed that he ignored the sunset. He turned his back to it and continued to talk and point out things so that we felt we couldn't ignore him to watch the sun even though he said we could. However, the rest of the trip was awesome. We learned so much and got to see and handle several ocean creatures. The best parts were the headlamps guiding us through the mangroves as our paddles sliced silently through the water; tapping the kayaks to make the bioluminescent creatures light up; and the magnificent stars. We highly recommend this trip for something unusual and fascinating. |

My wife and I booked the evening kayak trip based on reviews on TripAdvisor, and we were very impressed!! This is a great opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the southern keys with an experienced, well educated guide who clearly takes pride in his work. Book this trip, you will not be disappointed!! |

Nice way to spend an evening away from Duval St. Amazing wildlife including many kinds of birds and sea life. A Ballyhoo actually jumped into our kayak while paddling after dark. That caused some excitement! I'd recommend single kayaks instead of the double which was tight manuvering in the mangroves and difficult to coordinate paddle strokes. |

My husband and I were very excited about this excursion after reading all the reviews. We really enjoyed the kayaking aspect of it. The problem was that a front was in the process of coming in and the water was very choppy. We didn't see the wildlife that many others reported seeing, but understood that was out of the tour guide's hands. When he did find something to show us, Chad didn't wait for the entire group to catch up and see it. There was one woman on our tour who had absolutely no experience at all. Because of the tide and winds, she had an extremely tough time. At times, she was left very far behind the group and the guide did nothing to help her. I feel that before going out the guide should go over basic kayaking techniques once everyone is in their kayak and can practice the moves. It was a very interesting experience, especially when you put on the headlamps and move through the mangroves. We would do it again, hopefully in better weather conditions so we could see more wildlife. |

The Sunset Kayak Tour was fun and informative. We had a nice sized group (six people) and could easily hear the naturalist describe flora and fauna. She also passed around some critters to those who chose to handle them. Using the headlamps while paddling under the mangrove roots was a unique experience, and I would have enjoyed more time in the mangroves. If you are interested in the mangrove ecosystem, and enjoy kayaking at night, then this tour is for you! |

I have been kayaking for twelve years and this was one of my favorite trips. Our guide (James) was very informative and knowledgeable. He made sure he answered all the questions and that everyone could hear him and that no one was left out. I would do this again and highly reccomend it to anyone. It would be great for groups and families alike. |
