As first time kayakers this was a great activity for my entire family. The guide was knowledgeable and patient which was a big help when having children on the tour. We would go again next time we are in the Keys and would reccomend it for individuals and familys.

Sunset Kayak... Not really romantic, but fun and informative. After dark was the best. Bioluminescence was cool to see, kinda like small fireworks underwater. also saw glowing worms on top of the water, Stingray, lobster, urchins, other starnge looking stuff and lots of birds. You will get wet from the paddle dripping on you (unavoidable). Go on this trip and HAVE FUN!!

Great look at a hidden part of the Key West ECO.

Don't let the humble location on Stock Island fool you. Once you are on the water with your group of fellow kayakers (regardless of your skill level), nothing else matters. From the friendly, attentive and knowledgeable staff, to the varied and usually hidden wildlife of the Florida Keys Mangrove Islands, there is plenty to keep your attention. This is a trip that is well worth it and one that you don't want to miss. Good personal services.

A Great Way to Experience Key West

My family and I had an outstanding time with the Blue Planet Kayak team. We took the tour in lieu of one sponsored through our cruise ship and we could not have been happier with our choice. The shuttle picked us up near the dock and right on time. Having never kayaked before, the instructions were simple and the team made the learning process a breeze. Our young daughter decided to go in a double kayak which was easy to operate and provided her with a break from having to do all of the work. The tour guide was simply a wealth of information on the local marine life and you could tell he really enjoys sharing the wonders of the area and nature. We were able to interact with various marine life including super sized starfish, live conch, and many others. My family greatly enjoyed the up close and personal nature of the interaction, and we learned so much from our guide. We've taken many excursions and tours in many locations and we all believe this is one of the best we have ever experienced. The paddling was easy and the small group nature of the tour allowed all of us to share in the excitement. If you decide to take this tour, just remember to bring your digital camera. I took pictures for the entire group and it was easy to snap some truly amazing shots and keep up with the tour and navigate through the mangroves. They provide waterproof bags for the rest of your items, so you can feel safe that your stuff won't get wet. But be aware, you will like get a bit soggy and with some of the marine life, they eject ink and other elements, so dress accordingly. Overall, a tremendous experience that we would recommend to anyone.

Marine Life Wonders

The trip was great and the guide was the best part. Weather was wonderful and enjoyed the use of the tandem kayak for my husband and myself. That way he could take photos and I could paddle. The guide showed us lots of marine life and most of it we were able to hold before releasing back to its habitat. It was great to see for the first time bioluminescent marine bacteria. We would recommend this trip for anyone.

Get out of the hotel room and do it!!

A friend and I booked the morning trip knowing it was going to be a struggle waking up and doing any type of physical activity. Lucky for us, we stuck with the plan. You can use the single kayak or the double. My friend and I opted for the double, just so we wouldn't get separated in the group, as we were still kinda tipsy from the night before, thus some uncontrollable giggles..aka "that lady just accidentally paddled my boca chica." Hilarious at the time. There were about 6 other people touring as well. Kayaking is easy. It is not strenuous at all. The only strain was the educational part of the tour. The guide is a smart cookie. Personally, my attention span wasn't holding up to standards 100% of the time. However I have great respect for all involved. We got to hold wild conchs and starfish. We explored inlets/creeks. It was so beautiful and an overall great experience. You can bring a regular camera. No worries. I smoked a cig....The morning tour is when you can take the best sun :-). Get out of the hotel room and do'll be happy you did. I am. Props to the tour guide for being nice to us.

Great Experience!
Thu, Apr 17  1:10 PM Pmingo Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
We saw this kayaking trip on a list of Key West family activities and decided it would be a great experience. Despite the fact that my two kids (ages 8 and 11) had never kayaked we all had a great time and had no issues keeping up. The initial paddling out to the mangroves takes some work but the water is so calm it's not an issue. Despite the fact that children over 10 can have their own kayak I would recommend using a double with an adult unless the child has prior kayaking experience to avoid frustration. We saw spotted eagle rays, fish, a shark, lots of coral, and other sea life. It was such a great and different experience. Word of caution - bring sunblock and apply it regularly throughout the trip!!!!

Great Experience

I wouldn't call this "romantic" necessarily. The sunset views may have been, but it was more adventure than romance. Skimming through mangroves, netting sea urchins, spotting a tree frog, plenty of Conch shells, and a special stop on a local's houseboat capped the evening. Great experience, great guide, easy pace, would do it again.

Thank-you to our tour guide Katie for a wonderful time! It was such a fascinating and great educational experience on this tour. To kayak through the mangroves in complete darkness was simply fascinating! Highly recommended for those that like a unique kayak adventure and the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful Key West sunset!!

The scenery is beautiful, a great way to spend a half day. Our guide was enthusiastic and worked very hard to seek out different sea life for the group to see. He also made the trip very interactive and educational, I would highly recommend the kayak eco-tour for all ages and groups.
