I was nervous about doing a kayaking tour because I'm not especially strong or athletic, but James and the team made me feel very comfortable, gave me enough instructions without boring me to tears, and led me and my family on one of my favorite travel adventures ever! We explored mangrove swamps, paddled across the most beautiful water I've ever seen in my life, and met a good variety of interesting animals. James knows his stuff about sea creatures and made the tour fun AND informative. We got some fantastic photos and made some amazing memories! I'm hooked on kayaking now and would absolutely take this tour again. |

We loved our Boca Chica trip with Chris! He was an excellent guide, putting us all at ease and sharing his love of the shoals with us. We wish the trip could have been longer! Next time we are in Key West we will definitely be back at Blue Planet Kayak for another day on the water to explore the mangroves and undersea life from a kayak. |

I happened to pick up one of your brochures at dinner at the Banana Cafe, and am so glad I did. Our family ( kids aged 13, 18 and 23) had a GREAT time kayaking through the mangroves. We were fortunate to have a great guide, perfect weather. Loved that we were picked up and dropped off directly at our hotel, and really enjoyed the kayaking. Glad we had individual kayaks -- we all had great fun! Thanks so much for a perfectly wonderful afternoon! |

This was a nice balance of some hard paddling for 15 minutes to get out to the mangroves, and then lots of quiet paddling surrounded by mangroves. Our guide, an old hippy who is really into the biology, was great at finding sea cucumbers, live conches, etc for us to examine, and telling us about the ecosystem. I suspect the tour might be very dependent on which tour guide you get, and we really liked ours. |

Although we thoroughly enjoyed the kayaking trip and our guide Chris, the maneuvers by members of the local Naval Air base were quite distracting. Between the F-18s and other military aircraft, we could barely hear Chris at times the noise was so ridiculous. It seemed like such an intrusion to our peaceful little kayaking trip. But I must admit, touching all the slimy little creatures almost made up for it! |

Great way to get to know what is around you in Key West.
Opted for the two person kayek which was useful to chat with your partner as you explore the different areas and follow your guide.
Certainly make sure you keep warm with a few different layers of clothing, ideally, wear some waterproof materials. We got caught with a nearby boat that generated waves that went over the kayek and we got wet, but all apart of the experience.
I would certainly recommend this activity. Enjoy! |

The guide was great, the canoes were adequate, and the routes through the mangroves were very interesting.
We had a great time even for a windy day, 20 knot winds. I particularly liked the guide showing us the marine life up close and sometimes in hand. I would recommend this tour to friends. regards Laurence Gray, Kingston, Ontario. |

Great experience, we were picked up at our hotel at the scheduled time, our driver was extremely friendly. Although we were told to bring supplies, water and sunscreen were offered to us, as well as a locker and waterproof bags for our belongings. Our guide, Chris, was patient with everyone's lack of skill and he knew a lot of interesting facts about the area. Although I hate anything to do with boats and water, I didn't feel like I was in danger at all during the excursion. The tour was well worth the cost (which was very reasonable). |

In the past, I have had the pleasure of going with Chad, the owner of Blue Planet Kayak Tours, on a daytime tour of the mangrove islands off of Key West. This was a twilight/nighttime tour that exceeded my already high. Chad was a font of information about the bird wildlife, flora, sea creatures and history of the area. This time of day, sunset-to-dark, is special in terms of the types of creatures that both emerge or can be seen more easily than in daytime.........fluorescent worms, light-emitting algae, sea slugs, starfish, sea urchins........and Chad knew where to find them all. Equipped with headlamps, we were able to see into the ecologically rich waters just off of Key West, and the experience was fantastic. I wholeheartedly recommend Blue Planet Tours. You won't regret it, and you WILL learn something new from an expert! Thanks, Chad, for a wonderful time. See you next year. |

I went with my mom in a tandem kayak and thoroughly enjoyed the sunset kayak tour. It was one of the highlights in our 9 day vacation. The guide was relaxed and approachable, and made the experience amazing. We started the trip in the evening and kayaked around bird island: a small mangrove island the pelicans/cormorants/and other birds have chosen to roost together, and we watched the sunset (which was beautiful), we then donned headlamps and kayaked into a mangrove tunnel. We got to see so many creatures, the guide lifted a sea slug out of the water that released purple ink, a queen conch, a horseshoe crab, a sea star, and a decorating crab. We saw a yellow stingray, mangrove crabs, and a lobster. Not to mention the 3 MANATEES that were in the marina of our launch site. It was a peaceful adventure and want to do it again through the same company next time I'm in Florida! |

James was a terrific guide who knew all the places to go for great viewing of marine life. We've been kayaking all over the world and this was a very different experience that we both really enjoyed. This was the first time either of us had ever kayaked at nighttime and it was very fun.
The title is misleading -- it's not a romantic kayak trip and there was no full moon (that's only applicable 1 out of 28 days) but it was really a superb trip. |
