Blue Planet Kayak Tours

This is was great experience. We were parents participating with two 12 year olds. All had a great time. Our guide was great, very informative and very willing to answer any and all questions. Highly recommend this and we certainly will be doing this trip again!

My wife and I had done the day trip on a previous trip and wanted our kids to expierence it. When we booked, only a sunset trip was available and we were a little nervous about going out at dusk. We were afraid that we would not get the full expierence. We were so wrong, this was the best trip! It was out of the heat of the day and the kids loved it! They greatly enjoyed spotting and handling the sea creatures and paddling through the mangrove forest with headlamps is a family expierence we will cherish forever!

We really enjoyed this trip - in fact it was our favorite thing we did in Key West. Our guide was very knowledgeable and took us to areas that we would never have seen without him. He also added a lot of context and detail about the wildlife and the area in general. We got to see lots of wildlife, the paddling was relatively easy, and my five year old just loved it. I highly recommend it.

more stories about pirates than nature...

This was an excellent time. We are a family of four, and used two tandem kayaks. Our friendly guide Chris took us (and about 4-5 other kayaks) across open water, to islands formed by mangrove stands. There were shaded "tunnels" through the mangroves where we discovered cowry shells growing on roots of the trees. Also, live starfish and tree crabs. Back in the open, we looked through clear waters to see yellow-white coral, giant sponges, sea urchins of various colors, and a live conch shell. We got a sense of the ecosystem (and what those damn jet skis do, ripping up sea grasses). Nice find: spotting two six-foot sharks swimming under us as we came back into port. Chris was a great storyteller, and the kayak folks were nice enough to call us after we forgot our camera! Highly recommended!!

My 16-year old daughter and I took the Sunset Kayak trip and it was awesome. Although it was a bit un-nerving being in a kayak in the dark while going through the mangroves, we had a great time seeing some things that you can't see on land - shrimp, lobster, rays, tarpon, needle fish, tree crabs, bioluminescent bacteria/algae, hermit crabs, conch, osprey and of course a unique perspective on a Keys sunset. Our guide, Chad, was great at finding things to show us and did a great job explaining various animal/environment facts. Thanks Chad for the wonderful experience!

We had a great time. James is very knowledgable and was eager to show us all the sealife lurking in the mangroves. He clearly has a passion for these creatures.

Highly recommend this unique night time kayak trip. Cool and knowledgeable guide....you won't be disappointed.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening tour with Chad. He was very interesting to listen to and we learned a lot and saw a lot thanks to him. I will recommend this tour to friends and will consider another tour if we visit again.

Blue Planet Kayaks provided my wife and I with a great tour of the mangroves and wildlife of the Boca Chica Key. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgable about ecosystem of the Florida Keys and made our tour very fun. We would recommend this to any one looking for a nice eco friendly activity for 2.5 hours.

We really enjoyed our kayak with Chad! He was a great guide and wildlife spotter. We kayaked out of the dock and into the bay, where we saw some great sealife with Chad's help, including starfish, sea cucumbers, octopi, shrimp, and more! We went through some beautiful mangroves both in daylight and by flashlight. It was truly enchanting and a highlight of our time in Key West. I'd enthusiastically recommend this ride to anyone!

We had James as a tour guide, we will definitely do another tour with him when we go back to Key West. We learned a lot and got to see a lot of things we'd never had seen on our own kayaking. We are experienced kayakers, but this tour was so easy that a beginner would be comfortable. I would have kayaked right over all the wildlife James saw with ease and introduced us to. We got to see and feel things we'd never seen or felt before! We saw brittle stars, sea hares, jellies, snails, cowrie, crabs, sea cucumbers, urchins, fish, a conch, etc. We plan on doing the night tour next!!! If we had been in town longer we would have made sure to have gone ahead and done the night tour we were so impressed.

Blue Planet Kayak is a no frills trip throught the water with a very knowledgable guide. The 21/2 hours flew by. I would highly recommend this adventure to anyone of any age with or without any previous kayak experience. Our guide was pleasant and very patient. She showed us as many inhabitants as possible. Overall a great experience.
