Blue Planet Kayak Tours

What a great way to spend a few hours! Even though we are experienced kayakers, there were rookies in our group and we all managed to stay together with our wonderful guide. Blue Planet provided comfortable boats, a knowledgeable and accommodating staff, and they opened our eyes to the wonders found among the mangroves. We were able to view a sea hare, sea stars, jellies, a queen conch, a sea cucumber, a basket star, stingrays and a bonnet shark while kayaking at a very comfortable pace. Thank you Blue Planet!

My family of 5 - 2 adults and 3 children (9, 12, 13) just took the Kayak sunset/night tour. This is a MUST DO! I have been traveling to the keys since I was a child and wanted my own children to experience all the Keys have to offer - the ocean, plants, birds, etc. in a unique way. We have done everything in the keys from snorkel to parasail... but this was the best experience ever. Our guide was incredible. It was like having our own personal biologist. We saw the rookery- every kind of bird just feet away. Of course there is nothing like a keys sunset- but to be in your Kayak on the water- so beautiful. The best part was after the sun went down and we put our head lamps on... wow the lobsters, shrimp, beautiful fish, rays... amazing at night! The incredible sounds and the beauty of the mangroves in the dark.. just fabulous. There is so much to do in Key West.. but if you are looking for a unique, memorable experience, go out kayaking with Blue Planet! It's truly amazing!

James was our guide and he is very knowledgeable and friendly. The kayaks were in good shape. The amount of wildlife we saw in just a few hours was great. It was a great way to see the waters Key West in a relaxed and fun way.

What a great way to spend our first night in Key West! We had a fabulous time and our guide, James, was the best! He was very knowledgable and a great tour guide. We enjoyed every moment, well, except when the few mosquitos started to come out, but bug spray was provided and we were fine the rest of the night! We observed the great creatures of the area up close and personal and great care was given to preserve the wildlife and do no harm. One of the best tours we have ever been on! I have never been to the keys but my 16 yr old had. She talked about her experience kayaking the mangroves so I had to try. I love kayaking as it is. The other two that we were vacationing with was another 16 yr old and her mother. This mother had never kayaked before and was very leery about trying. I found this kayak tour online. Booked it and crossed my fingers. We went, kayaked for approx 2.5 hours and it was the best most beautiful 2.5 hours we experienced. Our guide was very informative and friendly. After our week vacation our group asked each other what part of our vacation we enjoyed the most and we 100% agreed kayaking was the best. I strongly recommend this adventure and would definitely do this again without a thought.

Even though the weather was cool and very windy, the trip was enjoyable and our guide reallly knew his stuff. He was able to shelter us from much of the wind by going through the mangrove jungles. Coming home across open water was the most difficult part, against wind and outgoing tides, but everyone was able to make it just fine.

It was a great trip! The guide was very informative with her knowledge of the flora and fauna.

The sunset was beautiful and kayaking on the peaceful waters at night was cool. However, our tour guide was filled with sarcastic remarks and left us on several occasions. He was not very attentive to the group, only speaking to those who were right next to him.

My husband and I went on the tour with our 3 kids, ages 14, 11, and 5. My husband and I went on double kayaks with the younger ones, and our 14 year old went on a single kayak. None of us had any trouble keeping up with the group and getting through the mangroves. The guide was very informative as we saw many animals and creatures throughout the sunset/after dark tour. We have kayaked a few times on vacation in the Keys and other parts of Florida, but never in the evening. It was a nice change to go later in the day and see the creatures underwater at night. The kids loved it! They especially liked wearing the headlamps at night. We would definitely recommend this tour!

While this tour is advertised as family friendly and beginner friendly, it was not the case. Except for a about a 3 minute intro at the beginning, no instruction was provided. When my children struggled at the beginning of the tour, the guide not even once paddled up to them to help or iinstruct, even when he was yelling at them that they were in the wrong area. He left all of the helping to my wife and I, who also had never been kayaking before. The trip itself is fun, not too challenging and beautiful. So it should be an ideal family experience except that the customer service was attrocious. My advice is that there are probably other operators who will give the same tour at the same price, but will give better service. Finally on an information note, the guide was knowledgeable, but very self righteous. As we chose to be on this tour because we were interested in the eco explanation, the guide would have been better advised not to treated the group with self rigtheous indignity. So, definately kayaking in this area is the thing to do, but go with a different operator, particularly if you are a family with children.

I have been kayaking for twelve years and this was one of my favorite trips. Our guide (James) was very informative and knowledgeable. He made sure he answered all the questions and that everyone could hear him and that no one was left out. I would do this again and highly reccomend it to anyone. It would be great for groups and families alike.

The kayak tour is a great way to spend an afternoon while visiting the Keys. We saw and held a sea cucumber, a sea urchin, a small & a large starfish and a conch. We also had a reef shark swim under our kayaks. We also saw other marine life that we could not handle but saw up close in a net. Our guide was informative and all had a great time.

Our tour guide was excellent. From demonstrating the use of the kayaks to information about the area and the species inhabiting it she did a great job.

Would highly recommend, very educational on ecosystem.

great time out on the water with James and a few other people on New Years Eve! what could be more fun! my husband and I totally enjoyed the nature trip and James' description and explanation of all the critters out there! thanks would recommend to all!
