If you have never kayaked but would like to, this adventure is for you. Before going out there is a containment area for practice. If you are afraid of being in deep water ... Chris does not take the tour to the ocean, and life preservers are standard equipment. Our guide (Chris?) was pleasant and gave both kayaking and nature instruction / information. The experience was unhurried as we paddled through walking tree canopies and in the open water stopping at bird gatherings, for close up encounters with sea animals that Chris netted from the water and for rest breaks. Although remaining relatively close, we were not paddling in a pack which allowed for self explorations. Chris is also very open to taking pictures with your camera upon request.

A very calm activity for any level of paddler-- not hard core kayaking at all. The guides are very knowledgeable and friendly.

We Kayaked through the mangroves which was beautiful in itself. We saw birds and the guide pointed out the life under the water. We even got to hold and see some up close. The guide was very knowledgable and informative. I had not kayaked before, but It was an easy trip to the mangroves and through the mangroves. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get up close to nature in the Keys and learn more about the smaller creatures in the mangroves.

The guide was so knowledgable, kind and gentle to the marine life and his guests. He was enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge. Definitely NOT commercialized event. Never kayaked or canoed before? Don't worry, it was easy to get the hang of in a short amount of time. It was a layed back, enjoyable, relaxing time to enjoy the beauty of nature.

The kayak trip was a great way to see the Keys from a different perspective-- from under the mangroves! There would be no other way to access these points an see the natural features of the mangrove so up close. The water is so calm and peaceful. The ride is not strenuous at all and the guide is maybe a little too non-chalant, but shared some information about the area and wildlife.

Pick-Up at the hotel was great! Guide and prep for kayaking was great! And the trip was completely enchanting through the mangroves -- its Key West from another perspective, which was perfect for me!

on a winter windy day ....

Although it was a very VERY windy day in winter, the experience is still nice. It was hard work (a first time kayaker) crossing the channel to get to the mangroves. Inside the mangrove, it was real peaceful and quiet. What a stark contrast with the outside world. I wish we could stay longer and enjoy the peace. The guide is great and we saw conch, urchin, sea star, birds, and lots of sea grass. Best of all, we can see the fighter jets take off/land and doing all kinds of maneuvers because we're right across the naval air station. By the way, don't forget to pack some muscle pain relief cream or pill ....

I would recommend this trip to anyone who is interested in nature. It is not overly difficult to paddle the kayak and is lots of fun. You get to see lots of different animals including many different species of birds. The guide was extremely knowledgable and enthusiatic in his finding and sharing information about critters of the sea. He even allows for hands on when appropriate. I say if you are thinking about doing this trip----you should!!!!

Great trip! Go!

The "night" aspect makes this a unique trip. The guide made sure all were ready including those who'd never paddled. Great equipment. Watched a super sunset and then paddled....when DARK, the headlamps were distributed...powerful halogen. After some eco-history we went into the tunnels through the Mangrove island. Twisting and narrow....what a cool way to go. Glad we had bug spray (guide offered more to anyone who needed it!). Got to twist the water with our paddles to see the diamond sparkle of phosphorescence. The guide later spotted and netted a sting ray and showed him to us; then a lobster....This guide was QUICK! We all learned to look down for red glowing eyes indicating a critter below. I did return one tiny fish to the bay after it somehow got into the bottom of my kayak. This is a very special trip, the first night tour I'd been on...have gone of many in the Keys over the years.

We booked the Eco tour and greatly enjoyed the trip through the mangrove forests. Our tour guide was very knowledgable and really searched for wildlife to show us. Easy paddling, good tour, very fun and learned a few things along the way. Highly recommend.
