Description

The Boomerang welcomes you aboard for a day of intense competition, hysterical laughs, wild dares, and total debauchery!

You’ll discover Washington DC in a whole new way as we drop you off in many different neighborhoods with long lists of things to do and things to get!
Here is a bit about what to expect:
  • Enjoy our pre-party where we will go over directions and finalize teams.
  • Be prepared to 'hunt' in three different neighborhoods~ Usually Chinatown, Capitol Hill, and Georgetown
  • Celebrate the winning team at  our post party with awards!
  • Enjoy drink specials at our pre & post party!
How does it work?
Each group will be given the same long list of things to do and to find.  Everything on the list has a point value.  Groups can choose if they want to focus on the harder to get items worth a lot of points, or the easier items worth less points.  (Yes - there is strategy involved!)   Each team needs at least one digital camera and a few pens.

All of the groups will reunite together on the bus, but you will all scramble and separate when we get off the bus at each location.  Every time the groups come back on board from a neighborhood, the Boomerang judge will come around and tally each team as the bus moves on to the next neighborhood.
There are many twists and surprises along the way and the winning team will be greatly rewarded!

At the end of the hunt, we will announce the winner at the post party in Dupont Circle to celebrate with the winners!

You can sign-up up as a team (3-5 people) or as an individual and  we add you to a team!

Experience all the fun of DC as you ride the Boomerang and gather clues along the way!

What Is Not Included?

Drinks at the post-party at 19th and during the hunt are not included in the price of the tour. If you would like to take advantage of the Boomerang drink specials, bring enough cash or plastic with you.

Meeting Location

DuPont Circle (Washington, DC) (Exact meeting location details will be provided immediately upon purchase of tickets.)
If the tour is sold out, is there a waiting list?
No, Boomerang does not keep a waiting list for our tours. Tours do sell out, and often well in advance, so please make sure to purchase your tickets far in advance, especially if you have limited time availability.
Can I go alone or do I need a group of 5?
Either way, you'll have a great time! You can buy tickets for your own team of 5 people, or come individually and the hosts will organize the teams. If you and your friends are purchasing tickets separately, you'll be asked to provide their names when you buy your tickets, so the hosts know you are in the same group. Groups of fewer than 5 can be accommodated.
If Boomerang is running more than one bus when I want to go, how can I make sure I'll be on the same bus with my friends?
If you are signing up with friends, we ask you to provide the approximate number of people you expect to sign up, and the name of the group "organizer," when you purchase your ticket(s). By providing this information, we will be able to assign you to the same bus as the rest of your group. Please keep in mind, however, that providing this information does not "reserve" your friend's space - we only ask for these details so that we can keep groups of friends together, and plan accordingly. Your friends' space is in no way reserved or guaranteed until they purchase their own tickets, and tours usually sells out quickly, so please tell them to book as soon as they can!
Can we buy souvenirs of our trip?
Yes! You can purchase Boomerang merchandise along with your tour tickets. There are plenty of fun extras like a Bachelorette Party Bag for Her (see our FAQ, "What can you do for a bachelorette party?"). Check out our “I Rode The Boomerang” Tee-Shirt. It comes in either ladies' or men's Small, Medium, Large or X-Large. Ladies' shirts come in Baby Blue or Black. Men's shirts come in Royal Blue, Navy Blue, and Sand color. Please specify your size and color when you are purchasing tickets. There is also an “I Rode The Boomerang” visor in khaki or navy and a Boomerang drinking card game!
How many tickets/seats are available on each bus?
We have room for 40 people to participate on each bus.
What can you do for a bachelorette party?
You and the girls absolutely have to come party with us for Her bachelorette party! Along with your tickets, be sure to purchase the Bachelorette Party Bag for Her, which comes with 1) The Dare To Do List (yikes), 2) Hot Pink "Grabber", 3) A disposable camera (heheheh), 4) A Candy Necklace (you do know what that's for, right?), 5) a feather boa, and 6) the Boomerang Drinking Card Game. In the "Notes to Seller," please indicate the bachelorette's name for us, too.
Will I be able to stop to eat during the hunt?
We can set-up a pizza stop during the hunt and you can also feel free to buy dinner during our after party in Rumors. You may stop to eat during any of the stops on the hunt, but remember there are plenty of things to find and the team with the most points gets greatly rewarded!
How much money should I bring?
During the hunt, you may have the option to get points by having a drink in certain bars. You would be responsible to pay for the drinks in the bar if you choose to complete that item. If you would like to take advantage of any of our drink specials or order some more snacks, bring cash with you.
What should I bring with me?
You don't need much to ride the Boomerang. Make sure to bring your money for drinks if you choose to have some, a valid ID (US or International drivers' licenses, passports, or other government issued ID), and a camera if you'd like.
Where does the scavenger hunt end?
The hunt ends at Rumor's, which is located at the corner of 19th St. & M St , near Dupont Circle. This is only about a 5 walk from the Dupont Metro and taxis are also available.
What happens if it rains?
The scavenger hunt will run rain or shine, so grab an umbrella or suit up your poncho and have some fun!
Do I have to be over 21 years old?
Riders on the Boomerang must be 21 years of age or older AND have a government-issued, valid ID available (US or International drivers' licenses, passports, or other government issued ID).
Can I drink on the bus?
The Boomerang does not provide alcohol or any beverages on the bus. However, you may be able to consume any alcohol you bring with you as long as you and every guest is 21 years of age. Please make sure to check state and local laws regarding the consumption and transportation of alcohol. No Glass containers allowed on bus. You may NOT, however, bring your own alcohol into any of the clubs/bars or take drinks you have purchased inside of a bar back onto the bus. If you bring your own alcohol on the bus, it must stay on the bus. You cannot exit the bus with any alcohol in your posession.
How much walking is involved?
You will be on your feet during most of the stops on the scavenger hunt. However, you can go at your own pace and your team can decide when to take breaks along the way.
Can I leave my belongings on the bus?
Our driver stays on board the bus the entire trip to watch over everything to make sure nothing happens while you are gathering clues. However, he cannot remember which individuals go with which belongings, so please exercise care when deciding what to leave on board. Boomerang Tours is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
What about drinking and driving?
One of the reasons we created Boomerang Tours was to provide a safe way for you to enjoy the are without having to drive. Please help us by a) using the Metro or public other public transportation, b) always using a designated driver, and c) being responsible with your drinking. Your safety and enjoyment are important to us. We highly discourage anyone to drive to one of our events and drive home afterwards if you have been drinking. Drinking and driving is against the law.
Is the Boomerang wheel chair accessible?
The Boomerang is not wheel chair accessible at this time, but we will try to make any accommodations to help a rider on the bus.
Is there assigned seating on the bus?
There is no assigned seating when we get started - it is first come, first serve. So, if you have a group, be sure to arrive early and board the bus promptly when we're ready to move on to the next location.
Do I need to tip the driver and party directors?
We do not require you to pay gratuity but these individuals are working for you. If you feel they have done a good job then please be kind and tip them just as you would your bartender or waiter. They work very hard to make sure you have a great experience.
Are there bathrooms along the way?
You will be able to use the bathroom at our meeting location and at the post-hunt party. During the scavenger hunt, you can always ask a local store or restaurant to use their bathroom. They are usually accommodating. Please let your director know if you would like to use the bathroom and we can usually recommend a friendly establishment.
Is the Boomerang heated and air conditioned?
The Boomerang is heated in the colder months. It is not air conditioned, but our windows provide a great cool breeze!
Who will be on board during the scavenger hunt?
On every trip there will be three employees of Boomerang Tours. There will be a licensed and experienced driver as well as two fun and outrageous party directors. Their job is to entertain you all night on and off the bus so that you have a great experience
Can I rent out the Boomerang bus for a private party?
Yes, but you need to make arrangements in advance. A lot of our groups, however, find that it's a lot more fun to join the other guests on one of our public tours to make the celebration that much larger (and cheaper for your group)! Our bus can hold up to 45 people. If you're interested in booking a private tour, please click "Contact Boomerang" to the left of the page.
