We gave the Boomerang bus a try based on some recommendations from friends at work. It was my wife and I along with a friend of ours from out of town. My wife and I aren't huge nightlifers, and we wanted to cram in as much of a sample of DC nightlife as possible for our friend who is moving up here soon, so Boomerang seemed like a good way to go. And it was.
We happily made it just on time to catch the bus and were on our way to the first bar of the night--Tattoo--in no time. If you're expecting a luxurious ride to your destinations (not that we were), you may be a bit disappointed. The bus was tremendously overbooked during our trip. There were two large groups of 10+ on the bus along with us and maybe one or two smaller groups. It was quite obvious that just about everyone had been partying for hours already which made the bus quite a festive and exciting place to be. In fact, I'm pretty sure half of DC knew where the bus was at any time given our ability to make our presence known.
Tattoo was a nice little bar. Not too crowded to start (but it was early still). The prices were what you'd expect for a trendy DC bar. The 80s music videos brought back memories.
The next stop on the bus ride was Ultrabar, a four-level club with a VIP section that we were able to get into for free as Boomerangers. We hung out on the rear second level for a while because it was cooler and calmer. My wife and friend ordered cosmopolitans. I wouldn't know a cosmo from a carrot juice, but they indicated that what they were given were not cosmopolitans. However, they were "very strong drinks" so they stopped complaining after about 10 seconds. Eventually we made our way up to the 4th floor (the VIP floor), though it took a while to wade through the crowded main floor, the somewhat quieter front part of the 2nd floor, and the "reminds us of Miami" 3rd floor to get there. The 4th floor was definitely the best of all of them. Lots of lasers which is always a plus. The techno rave music was great for dancing.
We ended up staying at Ultrabar until after the bus left, but we did this on purpose as we knew our out-of-town friend would be too tired for another bus trip. We left around 1am, hopped the nearby Metro, and returned home.
The Boomerang bus was definitely a lot of fun, and certainly a great value since it helped us avoid $25 worth of cover charges, got us into a VIP section for free, and saved us untold amounts of money for gas and parking or Metro rides. My only gripe is that the bus was tremendously overbooked. It would have been a lot more enjoyable ride if they kept it to 35 or 40 passengers maximum.
We'll probably give the Boomerang another shot when we're ready to experience a lot of DC nightlife in one night again. |

We had an absolute blast! The hosts were great! They had soo much energy, took tons of pictures of us and with us and made it totally worthwhile. My friends and I will definitely do this again!

I did this with about 10 of my friends for my 23rd birthday and had a blast! The entertainment staff was excellent! They made sure my birthday was a blast. I will be returning for another bus ride in 2 weeks! |

We had an awesome time on the Boomerang Party Bus!! We had a large-ish group of friends going out to celebrate a birthday. It was an extremely good value for the money and it was tons of fun! (the only downside would be that the bus is NOT air conditioned so it was hot as h***) ... |

I have done about 3 Boomerang Bus tours in my life and always have a great time. My last time was for a friend's birthday. We were meshed in with 2 other groups, but WOW was it a blast! We got crazy with people we didn't know and went to bars we normally don't have an opportunity to go to due to their location. The staff was awesome, SO friendly, and for what you pay, who doesn't like to get toted around DC to party and drink?! |

I've always had a great time on the bus! There's never a dull moment. The bus allows you to bring on your beverages of choice, wear some flair or bring some crazy flair, be grouped with your best friends and be drivin around to 3 cool bars in the DC metro area. Couldn't ask for anything better! |
