Alan, our guide, was terrific

This was a very interesting tour. I have lived in Boston for over 40 years and we went to places and learned about things that I never knew which made it a great tour.

Although I group up in and currently live in the Boston area I learned a great deal from Alan, our tour guide. Not only did he have a wealth of knowledge aoubt Jewish History in Massachsuetts, he interjected a great deal of information about the history of Boston and surrounding area. Visiting the Vina Shul was a highlight of the tour. A lovely and informative way to spend a summer afternoon.

Jewish Tour of Boston
Mon, Aug 1, 11   2:30 PM jancourte Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
Tour guide very enthusiastic There's just not much Jewish presence in Boston according to the guide This was reflected in the tour - about 30% Jewish content We visited one old synagogue in poor repair from the early 1900s, the Holocaust exhibit (too hot of a day to spend time there) and started the tour at a kosher restaurant. The tour guide reflected on the history of minorities in Boston and the movement of various groups around the city and provided other historical and architectural perspective. He had good stories.

Interesting anecdotes and historic context about Jewish Boston sites. Did not include much information about many specific individuals involved in Boston's Jewish history.

We spent approx half hour at the vilna shul which I enjoyed very much. Not something you get to do if you are wandering around on your own. Alan was very congenial and helpful.

Even in the winter this walk is a winner

I recently took the 2 hour walk and learned so much about Boston in terms of history and geography. Alan was a great guide as well as a great navigator, there were some dicey sidewalks that we negotiated without incident. We have already recommended this tour so several friends. He managed to give some general historical information about Boston and specifically, the role of the Jews in Boston. You will not be sorry you booked this.

Our tour guide, Alan, was knowledgeable, entertaining and approachable. He was chock full of information and could answer anything we asked him and then some. It was great information for me as a local as well as for my father who was in from AZ. I will recommend it to others.
