Customized Tour with Great Guide

Although it was pouring rain and cold, this was one of the best tours I've experienced. Our tour guide, Alan, asked the two of us on the tour what we'd like to learn about. We both were interested in the historical events that took place in Boston and their impact to the country. For two hours, we learned about the buildings/locations, the personalities, and the events themselves. Even though I have been to Boston many times and seen some of the historical sites, Alan, made the locations come alive withhis great knowledge and a sense of humor. He also threw in a great deal of fun trivia and quirky facts to keep us engaged during the full tour (and this was in 40 degree weather with rain). I would not hesitate to recommend this tour to others and look forward to taking more tours with this company on my next visit to Boston.

Downtown Boston Walking Tour

Our tourguide, Alan, was remarkable. He taylored our tour for my children who are 13 and 11, sharing tidbits of information that were interesting to them. He engaged my girls by asking them questions and relating events and buildings to their life. The morning of our tour was extremely cold, and Alan took great care to find spots that were out of the wind, but were in sight of what he was telling us. I would highly recommmend this tour. I teach fifth grade American history and am thrilled to have all of my new knowledge to share with my students. I know they will be as fascinated by it as my family was.

We were the only ones on the tour and Alan did an excellent job. He recognized the pace of the group and made sure we were in shade as much as possible since it was quite hot. He augmented the information on the tour based on our interests. Based on our experience with Alan I would highly recommend to others.

My wife and I were fortunate enough to be the only 2 on the tour which turned the walk into a private tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable about Boston history and even included buildings of architectural significance within the downtown Boston area which was something extra over the Freedom Tour we experienced a few years ago.

My friend and I very much enjoyed our tour of the Freedom Trail and Boston Architecture. Alan, our tour guide, provided us with a lot of colorful depictions of Boston history, politics, and architecture. Seeing these historical sites would not have been as enjoyable or interesting if we had simply read about them in a book. We spent 4 days in Boston, and the 2.5 hours we spent on the tour were among the best we had. We HIGHLY recommend this tour to anyone yearning to learn more about Boston. Thanks so much!

This past Sunday some family and I went on a multi-combined walking tour of Boston and we saw and learned about things that we never knew about, and we are locals. The tour guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and answered all of our questions about the historical points of interest. He was patient when we had to stop for a break, and he kept the teenagers engaged (which isn't easy to do). I would highly recommend Boston City Walks if you want to feel and understand Boston and its history.

I would definitely recommend this tour. The tour guide was a very knowledge, affable fellow with an endearing pride in his city and an accent to match. Back Bay and Beacon Hill are of course beautiful and historically rich neighborhoods. Highlights included Louisberg Square in Beacon Hill.

Wonderful Overview of the City

Not only was Alan an encyclopedia of the city but he was very witty and helpful. The tour itself was a great sampling of the history and beauty of Boston and Alan pointed out things that I would have never noticed had I been strolling on my own. As a first time visitor I wanted to get a sample of the city that would encompass a variety of experiences and this was the perfect tour. I have seen other cities by bus or trolley but walking puts a new perspective on the architecture and horticulture that is missed by buzzing by on wheels. I can't say one negative thing about this tour as I was impressed by the casual yet highly educational experience. Alan even helped me find a better (cheaper) place to park my car for the weekend and made some GREAT suggestions for restaurants which I visited and enjoyed very much! It is a two hour walking tour so wear comfortable shoes, bring a bottle of water and take in all of the sights and experiences of this wonderful city.
