Brooklyn at its best
Tue, Nov 10  12:00 PM leesde Male 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
Very enjoyable walking tour of the Park Slope region of Brooklyn. The tour guide, Rick, was a local and very knowledgeable in the history of the area. It was definitely the best $30 I have spent in New York in a long time. Trip is capped off by a good slice of Brooklyn pizza!

Tour of Brooklyn

Since none of us had ever been to Brooklyn, we found this a wonderful way to have a "taste" of the borough. We thoroughly enjoyed the information on the architect of the buildings as well as the personal additions from Rick. The slice of pizza at the end was a fine treat as we have heard that brooklyn is known for it's top notch pizza !!!

DO NOT MISS THE BROOKLYN GUIDED WALKING TOUR

We are from Argentina and have been many times in NY. With this tour we learned that NY is much more than Manhattan. We discovered a beautiful neigborhood full of history, quiet and peace. Our guide really seemed to know every inch of the area. We usually travel by ourselves, but we would never have got to see what we saw if we had not taken this tour. We highly recommend it to everybody that likes to learn and discover something new on every trip.

We enjoyed seeing and learning about Park Slope and Brooklyn and were amazed at the knowledge and pride demonstrated by Rick. Rick was gregarious and friendly. We would happily do another tour with Rick any time.

The tour was made more interesting since the tour guide not only knew his Brooklyn history, interesting facts regarding the architecture and history of the buildings on the tour, but also included interesting vignets about growing up and living in Brooklyn. A really nice way to get to know more about Brooklyn!

My husband and I are Northeasterners (NY & NJ), my husband was acually born in Brooklyn but neither of us had ever spent time there. When I came across Rick's tour description, the first thing I liked about it was "a slice of pizza included"!!! Everyone knows the best pizza in the world comes from Brooklyn,so what could I do but sign up?! As it turned out, while the pizza was, indeed, the tastiest I've ever had, it paled next to experiencing Rick's absolutely CRAZY amount of knowledge about the neighborhoods and their histories, the amazing architecture and the people and places that were a part of his growing up in the area...Rick is so personable and so enthusiastic about the places we went that the 3 hours could easily be doubled and still he'd have things to show and places to visit...We'll definitely recommend this to anyone looking for something different, off the beaten path, and even educational! Thanks, Rick!!

The timing was great. I had never heard of Prospect Park until the tour - and then read about the tribute to Michael Jackson on his birthday - in Prospect Park!! And the personal info about growing up in Brooklyn was "priceless." I highly recommend it.

Good Value

Focuses on the Park Slope section of Brooklyn. Rick, the tour guide, grew up and lives in the neighborhood. In addition to the usual history and architectural highlights, he fills in with stories of growing up and describes how the neighborhood has changed over time. Most walking tours seem to run about $10 per hour, so at $30 for 3 hours with water and pizza thrown in, this is a good value for anyone who wants to see some of NYC outside Manhattan.
