A WINNER---You Can't Go Wrong With This One.

Dollar for dollar this is among the best walking tours we've ever taken. My husband and I lived in Park Slope for three years in the '80s, and we learned more about the Park Slope neighborhood in the first half-hour of Rick's tour than we had in the three years we lived there! Rick possesses a veritable wealth of knowledge and lore about Park Slope (as well as the rest of Brooklyn) and somehow manages to make you as thoroughly and passionately interested in the subject as he is----but without overwhelming you with irrelevant facts you don't need. Far beyond any tour guide I can remember anywhere in the world where we’ve taken tours (which takes in a lot of territory), he's personable, gracious, and generous to a fault. We will definitely take this tour again, but only after we've taken his Greenwood Cemetery tour. What's more, we're putting it at the top of our list of things to do with our own out-of-town visitors. My rating for this tour is 100% Five Star, out to the tenth power. You can't go wrong with this one.

Big Rick was lots of fun while totally giving us a lot of history of the Park Slope area of Brooklyn. he was pleasant and outgoing and told many personal stories that were woven into the history of the area. i would definitely go again to other tours - this by the way was my 4th time with a Zerve tour, Janet Barson

Vivid, unforgettably wonderful experience

For some three hours in late September, Rick Kadlub provided us with a time machine - a vivid, unforgettable walk through Park Slope that was a journey through the ages. Rick's fabulous commentary took us back into history with political, architectural, artistic, literary and other insights that brought these areas to life. Most insightful and poignant were his personal recollections -- of Aunt Tootsie and Uncle Joe, his grandmother, the nun who taught his grandmother and him, and others in a cast of characters that brought Brooklyn, past and present, vividly to life. It was a mini-vacation, basically for the cost of a meal, accessible with a MetroCard! We look forward to exploring Brooklyn's other areas with Rick.

We booked Big Rick's tour because of the amazing on-line reviews, and we weren't disappointed. He knows this part of Brooklyn, top to bottom ("My family's lived in this neighborhood for 100 years."). He has a story for every intersection and brownstone ("Al Capone got his start right here."). And you get some of the best pizza around ("We have to get there before the kids get out of school.") Go for it! You won't be disappointed either.

Rick knows lots about the neighborhood, and tales of his youth brought the tour to life. Rick is very knowledgable about the late 19th century mansions on the surrounding streets and pointed out interesting architectural details and tidbits about the people who used to live in the homes in the 1890s and thereabouts. An engaging personality, Rick made the tour fun, and for those interested in Brooklyn, yesterday and today, this is a must tour.

Brooklyn Comes Alive through Walking Tour

Rick was the highlight of our weekend. We knew virtually nothing about Brooklyn, and although there was only so much one can cover in a 3-hour walk, the commentary made it a very rich experience. Rick is a delight . He peppered the tour with personal stories of growing up and living in Brooklyn, and it made the whole experience come alive. He is interested in architecture, and he pointed out some of those highlights along the tour. I didn't expect that, but I loved being able to learn more about the fabulous architecture that we saw up close and personal.
