There are a gazillion walking tours online and I am glad that I choose this one. Big Rick(hes not really a big guy, just big on information and friendlyness) was really nice and open to any discussions. He takes you on a historical and personal tour that reflects his very local roots and studies. If you don't like walking then this tour may not be for you. Not that its strenuous, but there is some up hill walking. (Just be sure to put on your walking shoes.) The tour consists of plenty of architecture and funny facts. You will walk past some pretty fancy spots that may make you wonder why is this 3 million dollars?? His fine attention to details teaches you about masonry and the hands that created the buildings. Just when you think that you will pass out from hunger you will stop at this pizza joint and gave some pretty tasty pizza and then there a walk back to square one. Overall this tour is a good one to give you a taste of New York life. Its not overwhelming(like the time square tour) and will encourage you to learn more about the local neighborhoods and the people that make up this wonder place. Thanks again Big Rick.

I thoroughly enjoyed the tour with Rick. He was very knowedgeable ( a virtual encyclopedia) of the area with little stories for each site. I would highly recommend his tour. He is witty and informative-- a great way to spend the afternoon....

This was a tour I had been longing for for some time and it filled all my expectations. Our guide was knowledgeable, and chose many details that were interesting to comment on. A plus was that he had lived in a "south Park Slope" neighborhood all his life. The tour was never boring!

Rick provides a unique opportunity to take a tour led by someone who not only has a lot of "book" knowledge of the area, but also brings a lot of personal knowledge, as he was born and raised right in the neighborhood. The personal stories that Rick adds to the tour gives an unexpected exclamation point to an already great tour. Rick loves what he does, and that makes for a most enjoyable tour. Anyone who enjoys walking tours through neighborhoods and learning about history, architecture, and sociology will certainly enjoy this tour. Thanks, Rick! I had a great time!

I really enjoyed Rick's tour. I already had extensive knowledge of Manhattan and knew very little about Brooklyn. Rick has lived in Brooklyn his whole life and did a great job explaining how the city has evolved. He explains how the city was first settled to the current neighborhoods of today.

Big Rick is equal parts storyteller, historian, architecture maven, and street-corner philosopher. The tour was just a blast -- we learned a lot and had a wonderful time. It was a highlight of my trip to New York and I would urge anybody who loves history and architecture (not to mention pizza and interesting characters!) to give it a go!

What a great tour! Big Rick puts so much heart into his tours and it shows. He is always pointing out interesting architecture on the tour and telling stories about the old neighborhood. Entertaining, edifying and aerobic.
