A nice way to spend an afternoon

Rick is a great guide. He really knows the area, has taken time to research history and architecture, is able to throw in some interesting and funny stories, and has a good rapport with area residents, which allows for some nice surprises along the way. He keeps a good pace on the tour and his demeanor makes it fun and comfortable. All of this makes for an enjoyable time. Another good thing about this tour is that you can wait to see what the weather is before booking it (must book before 11:00, tour starts at 12:00). I definitely recommend the tour and hope that Rick expands to include other areas of Brooklyn.

Loved this tour - what a surprise - Brooklyn is gorgeous, funky, and fun ! Rick, the tour operator and guide, is incredibly knowledgeable, (seems like there's nothing he doesn't know about Brooklyn) affable, flexible, funny, and fun. We had two generations in the group and everyone had a great time. Prospect Park seemed particularly lovely in Spring., with everything in bloom. Imagine it's also gorgeous in the Autumn. Lots of good stuff to eat in Brooklyn, too, including complimentary slice of pizza pie!

Perfect weather made this an even better tour

Big Rick is a very proud member of his community. He gave us a good sense of the history of the Park Slope area. We enjoyed the tour. It would enhance tour if Rick added visit to inside of some buildings - or even a few stops at shops we passed on the avenues. Some hints on places to eat if we come back to the area would be great - might be nice to add a stop in the library as part of tour.

Unexpected joy

Our guide Rick, did a fantastic job of infuesing history, fact, and folk lore of the area. He really understood the architecture of the beautiful buildings around his town. I have already, and will continue to recommend this tour, and on our next visit we look forward to any other tours he'll be doing.

New York City is so much more than Manhattan

Everybody has heard both good and bad things about Brooklyn. This tour acknowledges the negatives and celebrates the positives. By the end of the tour, I think we all felt that Brooklyn had been "disarmed" and we'd all feel comfortable exploring more on our own. The beauty of the borough really shown through.

Enjoyable neighborhood walk with a fun tour guide

The Park Slope tour was an enjoyable afternoon exploring a beautiful neighborhood with lots of character and charm. "Big Rick", our tour guide, was very knowledgeable about the area, lots of fun, and really personalized the tour with his own stories from growing up in the area. Even with three hours, there wasn't enough time to really explore Prospect Park. They should consider a separate tour of the park that really delves into its history, etc., and lets you see the main areas of the park beyond the long meadow. Not a complaint, but a reason to go back!!

Rainy day with Rick

We took the walking tour of Brooklyn with Rick on the Saturday before Easter. Rick called that morning to advise us to bring umbrellas. It is a good thing we did because it rained for all of the 3 hour tour. Rick made it enjoyable despite the weather. He is enthusiastic and has a wealth of information about Brooklyn. He grew up there and is able to tell you about the culture of the neighborhood then as well as now. He can tell personal stories as well as fill you in on the architecture and history of Brooklyn. He was able to give us tips on where to eat and what else to do in Brooklyn. If you want a slice of life in Brooklyn Rick is the the "go to guy".

Rick met us across the street from the Subway Stop. It is a quiet, safe, economical ride in the subway from Manhattan. The area you come up from the subway seemed totally safe and secure. We crossed the street and met "Rick" who immediately ducked into a shop and came out offering us a bottle of water for our walking tour. Then he dove right in -- enthusiastically describing the area; the local landmark bank, the bank clock, and the transitions (and dangers) of living in the area for several generations. Rick also gave his own perspective on the future growth of the neighborhood. You couldn't help but immediately grow to like his affable personality. My wife and I noticed right away that he was "original" and quite enthusiastic about showing off his hometown. He was also rightly proud of all the folks that have made names from themselves who claim Brooklyn as their home. He's a master of the different styles of architecture in the neighborhoods around Park Slope and he easily handled our questions as we walked up Park Slope and through Prospect Park. About 2/3rds of the way through the tour you were treated to an authentic slice of Brooklyn pizza. Study up on how a Brooklyn native eats pizza or you'll instantly be spotted as a non-native. It was a wonderful experience and very enjoyable. The tour lasted about 2 hours and 45 minutes. It was not rushed nor forced. It felt long enough to feel like you got your money's worth, learned a bit about the area and not so long that you bored of the material he was presenting. My wife and I would heartily recommend this tour and especially Rick. VR Drew Dwyer Col, USMC (Ret)

My sister and I were lucky to be the only ones signed up for the tour on our day and Rick was the BEST tour guide - so funny and smart and entertaining! Even though it was cold and windy and at times drizzly, it was a fun-filled, QUICK 3 hours and we left with a real appreciation of the history and flavor of Brooklyn. We would recommend this tour to ANYONE, local or tourist, as you will find things out about Brooklyn that you never knew. We would definitely do another tour with Rick, maybe he will expand to other parts of Brooklyn?!?!
