overall enjoyable

The tour guide was charming- very much a real brooklynite. I enjoyed most his comparisions of park slope in his childhood and youth to today. The local history of a real life that had spanned some time in the neighborhood was the best part- to imagine the changes was fascinating. The architectural details that were pointed out were nteresting but I would have liked more hostorical context as to why those details may have been in vogue at the time- and a better understanding of who first lived in park slope and why they moved here. Maybe more statistics too about the park slope of today. The tour guide, Rick, was very enjoyable and personable and took good care of the group during the tour. We enjoyed the tour.

wonderful tour

This was one of the most interesting and enjoyable tours of New York we have been on. We have been to Brooklyn a couple of times, but have always done tours in Manhattan. Rick does a great job. He knows the area very well, made recommendations about other places to go, and thoroughly answered all our questions. We would highly recommend this tour to others who want to see Brooklyn.

A very informative, intersesting and fun walk

Rick knows lots about the neighborhood, and tales of his youth brought the tour to life. Rick is very knowledgable about the late 19th century mansions on the surrounding streets and pointed out interesting architectural details and tidbits about the people who used to live in the homes in the 1890s and thereabouts. An engaging personality, Rick made the tour fun, and for those interested in Brooklyn, yesterday and today, this is a must tour.

Fun and Factual

Rick was a fantastic tour guide with personal and historical knowledge of the neighborhood. He knows everyone in the neighborhood, is full of anecdotal stories, and has his facts about history and architecture down cold! I have a new appreciation of Brooklyn. I highly recommend his tour.

My friends and I really enjoyed our few hours we spent with Rick walking through Park Slope. He is passionate about Brooklyn; his combination of personal stories and historical facts makes for a very interesting tour. We were a small group, he was personal and accommodating to any of our requests. He was also funny which made the time fly by. The pizza at the end of the tour makes you feel like you have had a little taste of Brooklyn and would want to come back again on future trips. Overall we all enjoyed our morning and would highly recomend it.

my daughter and I met Rick right at 1:15 and had a great time with him on the tour. Even though it was about 90 degrees, we laughed a lot and saw some beautiful homes. Rick was very informative and it is obvious he loves his town. He is definitely the real deal.

If you are considering doing a tour in Brooklyn, I would highly recommend this tour. Our tour guide Rick, having grown up in Brooklyn, was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The meeting spot for the walking tour was very easy to get to on the subway from Manhattan. The walking tour itself was enjoyable and informative. My three friends also thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Whether you are a first time visitor to New York City or have visited many times, I think you will have a good time on this tour.

Rick did a fantastic job of orienting us to the Park Slope section of Brooklyn. The tour focused on the local history, architecture and some interesting cultural aspects of the area. We felt like we were visiting with an old friend. Put your walking shoes on and plan for a wonderfull 3 hours.

my daughter recently moved to brooklyn and this was a perfect way to get to know park slope. rick was so entertaining and so native! we were the only ones on the tour so it felt like our own special personal tour. rick was funny, courteous and so full of knowledge; historical and his own personal history! we spent full three hours walking throughout park slope and into prospect park and learned so much. i would definitely recommend this tour with rick as a must do on a visitor's list!

A must on a visit to NYC/Brooklyn

I was entralled with this tour from beginning to end. A history lesson on Brooklyn, and the many architectural gems in the area. Also Rick the tour guide is awesome. Since he has grown up in the area, and still resides there. He had many of a story to tell. It brought so much more to the tour. Since my return to Boston, I still can't stop talking about it. And would recommend to everybody.

Brooklyn Comes Alive through Walking Tour
Sat, Aug 23, 08   10:00 AM kdlass Female 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Rick was the highlight of our weekend. We knew virtually nothing about Brooklyn, and although there was only so much one can cover in a 3-hour walk, the commentary made it a very rich experience. Rick is a delight . He peppered the tour with personal stories of growing up and living in Brooklyn, and it made the whole experience come alive. He is interested in architecture, and he pointed out some of those highlights along the tour. I didn't expect that, but I loved being able to learn more about the fabulous architecture that we saw up close and personal.

I live in the neighborhood and brought my sister and son. Rick gives a great tour and an amazing amount of architectural history. I would recommend the tour to anyone whether you are local or out of town just visiting.

A wonderful afternoon, we highly recommend.

My wife and I had a great experience with Rick as our guide as he took us through the Brooklyn that he knew as a child, the Brooklyn in the early 1900's with an emphasis on the architecture, and the Point Slope section of Brooklyn that is today. Bring home the 4-pack of the monthly wine specials from Red, White, and Bubbly. We finished a beautify day by stepping back in time and eating dinner at "2 Toms" Italian restaurant that probably hasn't changed since Rick was a kid living down the street. Be prepared to take home plenty of left-overs. The steak was 3" thick. We can't wait for more tours and we will bring our friends. An informative and fun day. Karen and Mike, Manasquan, NJ
