An Insider's View of Brooklyn

My mom and I joined Rick for a tour of Brooklyn and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Rick was born and raised in the neighbourhood, and he offers an insider's view of the history and gentrification that is is currently taking place. Lots of colourful stories & very entertaining! Plus a great slice of pizza at the end of the tour. Thanks Rick!

We completely enjoyed the tour. Our guide was born and raised in Brooklyn and as a result, though he knew all the "official history ", he could also give you all of the local color and the view from the real people. Lunch was great too; excellent pizza.

From start to finish to tour was faultless. Rick certainly knows Brooklyn and gave the group (there were only 5 of us in total) an interesting and entertainting look at Brooklyn, stopping off at the end for an enormous slice of pizza which was very welcome! Well worth taking this tour - excellent job Rick!!

We read the reviews on line and thought that we would take a chance...how could we go wrong with so many satisfied clients? Rick did not disappoint! He took us a tour of Brooklyn by hitting all the highlights but he provided so much more information, from det ails on architecture to personal stories (funny, too!). Definitely worth the time. We never would have been able to cover this territory and gain the insight we did without him. Pizza was good too!

Great tour of the Park Slope Area

We had a fabulous tour with Rick. Our tour started at 10am and we got to the meeting place about 5 minutes early and Rick was already there, ready to greet us with cold bottles of water for the 3 of us. Nice touch. Our tour group was small, just the 3 of us which made it easy to ask questions and very personal. Rick was very informative and knowledgeable. He gave us the backround of the area dating back to when Al Capone lived there and gave us numerous accounts of his childhood memories of the area. Rick plays many roles on the 3 hour tour: historian, discussions of architectural styles in the area, neighborhood resident (he still lives in the area). We definitely saw and discussed many buildings, residences and the huge park in the Park Slope area. Rick still lives in the neighborhood and knew many of the people we passed on our walk. This gave all of his talks credibility. Everything is well planned out with Rick and he treats you to a slice of NY style pizza at the end of the tour; which is very good. If you want a tour of Brooklyn and would like to hone in on a very nice specific area; then Rick's the guy.

The tour leader, Rick, grew up in the Park Slope area. As a result he has indepth knowledge of the area and lots of interesting stories of what was and now what is. In addition he has encyclopedic knowledge that adds an unexpected depth of information to the tour. It's a great tour.

a walk through history

My husband and I booked this tour a week in advance to be part of our 7-day 10th Anniversary trip to New York City. It was everything we had hoped for! We learned and saw things we'd have never known on our own. Big Rick was extremely knowledgable and had obviously done his homework. We loved seeing the detailed architecture of the Brooklyn Brownstones and hearing his passionate loyalty for the city he's called home. The walk was long, but nothing difficult (no major hills or challenging terrain) and the pizza lunch was delish. We'll recommend this to any of our friends or family headed to the Big Apple! Sincerely, The Tafts
