Very Interesting Day
Sat, Sep 12  11:00 AM Tiananancy Unspecified Unspecified International Tourist(s) Family With Children
Myself (52), my husband (53) and our daughter (19) attended this tour and we really enjoyed it. Rick, our guide, grew up in the neighbourhood and still retains great affection for and pride in his Brooklyn roots. He was able to tell us many entertaining stories of the development of the neighbourhood. We covered lots of ground at a comfortable pace, and saw the beautiful residential areas of Park Slope. Rick pointed out many social and architectural details that we never would have known otherwise. We saw Prospect Park, and many fascinating public buildings. We finished with a slice of tasty pizza and continued to wander around the lovely streets of restaurants and boutiques after the tour finished. We ate at a restaurant Rick recommended and the food was delicious. We then made our way to the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge and walked back into Manhattan, a pleasant half hour walk. We had a great, informative and fun time with Rick and highly recommend this tour. Nancy, Allan and Emily.

Rick provided a wonderful and very personal introduction to Brooklyn. He provided local color, history and architecture of the various neighborhoods. I would recommend this tour to my family and friends.

Insightful Tour

This is a most interesting tour of Brooklyn's parkslope area. The guide "Big Rick" goes over details about the many points around the area. He notes the architectural uniqueness of the some of the structures and provides the historical backgrounds coupled with his personal historical experiences in the area. I found his information delivery to be very enthusiastic and knowlegeable. Also found the many boutiques, shops on the avenues to be points of interest as well. After the tour, you learn abit more about this area's past and possible future trends. Definitely a worthwhile visit to be included in you trip to NYC.

Rick was a knowledgable tour guide who kept us laughing throughout the tour. Although the tour is 3 hours long, it never felt too long nor too rushed; Rick was always willing to answer any question we had. My parents were in from out of town and it was a good way to begin their stay and also gave me and my wife information about the neighborhood we have lived in for a couple of years that we would probably never have known.

Very enjoyable walking tour of the Park Slope region of Brooklyn. The tour guide, Rick, was a local and very knowledgeable in the history of the area. It was definitely the best $30 I have spent in New York in a long time. Trip is capped off by a good slice of Brooklyn pizza!

It was a beautiful fall day and as it turned out my wife and I were the tour group for the day. Big Rick knows his stuff. The tour time was jam packed with information and even better, personal insight...things only a native of the area would ever know. Besides being a great story teller with a wonderful sense of humor, Rick has done his homework and shares detailed architectural, cultural, social, and general sight seeing information in an entertaining way. Park Slope is fascinating...do yourself a favor...do this tour. This is what all tours should be like.

Excellent tour guide, great tour, informative, safe, great exercise. Brooklyn is a borough that should be explored as much as Manhatten,. Queens not so much. The guide was friendly and had lots of tidbits of info that contributed to an interesting 3 hours.

Rick was very knowledgeable about the area yet what really distinguished this from other walking tours I've done was the genuine love for the neighborhood and it's history. Hearing about the how neighborhoods in and around the slope had changed through the years (for good and bad), as well as hearing trivia about Rick's family and friends and their place in the neighborhood, made for a very rich experience.

Recommended for those who don't want an ordinary Gray Line or Double Decker tour in Manhattan. The tour guide is a really great guy. You indeed walk and walk and walk on this tour but don't have to bring your own water bottle. Find out why for yourself.

a tour to remember ....

A friend had done this tour over the summer of 2009. Being from Philadelphia, I was very interested in learning more about Brooklyn. I asked a group of friends if they would be interested and we planned to take a day off from work to do the tour. Our guide, "Big Rick", was very knowledgeable and shared numerous personal stories. We were also able to walk through one of the mansions along the route of the tour. I recommend this highly. I might even do it again. This time I'd plan to do it on a Sunday when we might be able to see inside some the houses of worship along the way. I will also now go back on my own to explore some of the areas that we visited.
