The Darkside of Charleston Tour (Rated R)

I truly enjoyed this tour. I have a short attention span sometimes when it comes to history, so I thought this tour would be just interesting enough to keep me paying attention for an hour and a half. It definitely was. Lane was our tour guide, and he said this is the only tour he does anymore. There was some vulgar language on the tour, so this is definitely an adults-only tour, but the subject matter was so interesting - prostitutes, murderers, theives, slaves, justice in the old days. It was really great! We ended the tour in a church's graveyard, and Lane was very respectful of those buried there. Some reviewers for other tours indicated that their tour guides were not respectful while in the cemetaries, but Lane definitely was. If I visited there again, I would probably attend the tour again.

The tour was wonderful. It gave all of the history that you wouldn't find in the books and that is exactly what we were looking for.

There was alot more crime in Charleston than our guide discussed.

My boyfriend and I took a quick trip to Charleston and decided to try this tour out. We had Braxton as our tour guide, who I highly recommend! This tour was fun for both of us because it included history but also interesting, inappropriate stories. I recommend this for any type of group looking for something different to do one evening in Charleston.

The tour was ok in general. I felt that there really wasn't enough for a separate tour. It should just be added to one of the others.

The guide was very knowledgeable and seemed to enjoy what he was doing. He was willing to answer any questions and even ventured off the tour route a few times. Would recommend.

We enjoyed the Dark Side of Charleston tour, finding it informative, unique and interesting. Although it was much different than we had anticipated, it was well worth $18. We would have liked to have had a few more stops on our tour (I think we only had about 5), but overall, it was a good tour.

I really liked the tour! The guide was a local who clearly knew what he was talking about and had alot of great information. I also liked that the tour was geared toward adults who wanted to learn and not watered down. And although it is a "Darkside" tour, it would be great to have the option of going in the day, purely for touristy photo-taking purposes.

Tour was interesting and was exactly as advertised. The only negative comment we have was the pace. We thought Braxton was running a track meet rather than a tour. It was as if he had somewhere else to be and wanted to finish the tour as quick as he could. We've done many other walking tours in Charleston, not with Bull Dog and the pace was more leisurely.

Places visited in general not that interesting.
