We would not recommend this tour to anyone! With the thought that we were going to do a walking tour and go to several buildings in Charleston and have the tour guide tell stories/tales about what took place in each of these buildings and/or areas, we were flabbergasted that what we mostly did was stand on corners, underneath street lights, and against buildings and were told stories that had nothing to do with where we were standing. And every single story for 1.5 hours was about prostitution. Didn't hear about debauchery, murders, etc. Just prostitution and millions of references about how well endowed King Charles II was. The four of us were extremely bored and couldn't wait for Eli to stop talking and get the tour over with.

We're locals but had friends visiting from out of town. We wanted to take them on a tour where they could see the city as well as learn some history. All of us really loved this tour and our guide was VERY knowledgeable about Charleston's history! We had a great time and we would highly recommend this to anyone!!!

My wife and I really enjoyed the tour. Our only thing against it was the guide spoke fairly quickly. There were stories that you may have need more background on or history reminders that he was a few sentences into before you could process what was being said. His volume was a little low too. But he spoke fairly long on most topics and I think there was enough repetition to get the gist of what was missed. He came across as very knowledgable and really respecting history in general and in particular to his city. On some other tours you may take you get some overlapping stories that other guides tell you, but his stories were often side stories others never mentioned on topica or just topics that others wouldn't hit on. I'm not good at remembering dates and details given to me as fast as they were in the tour and I feel I'd appreciate things more had I heard them again. Our Guide was Lane, I believe, if he's yours he is very good. As usual its best to stick close to him so you may hear side stories from othe rpeoples questions en route to different locations or just to hear more detail when he speaks. We thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

We really enjoyed the Darkside tour. Our guide, Eli, was very nice and made the walk even more interesting through his manner of story-telling. It was obvious he was well-studied in the history of the area.

We had a great time on our "Darkside" tour. Our guide was very nice and willing to answer any questions including general history. It was obvious he enjoyed his job and was very knowledgeable!! It was amazing to stand on the very spot the historical events took place, and interesting to hear about topics not readily discussed on other tours. I highly recommend this tour. It (as any would) is even better if you can brush up on the history of specific topics that interest you on your own before going - the tour guide will be able to fill in the gaps and answer any specific questions you have! Fun for all...over 18 of course.

This was a great historical tour of Charleston's brothels, murders, and other unsavory secrets. No worrying about what goes bump in the night, this is for those who enjoy learning about a city's dark secrets.

We started our tour with about 16 to 20 people. However, this quickly was reduced to less than 10 when our leader refused to slow the walking pace (even though he had told the group he would accommodate everyone before he started the tour). After those folks had returned to the tour office for a refund, we continued the tour. The guide was not very professional. He looked disheveled, carried an empty coffee cup and shared information randomly. He admitted that he had no set plan for the tour. I would not recommend this tour to anyone.

We took the walking tour into the "dark side" and, aside from the heat, really enjoyed the experience. The guide was very knowledgeable, answered all questions and royally entertained us. We look forward to returning to Charleston and taking other tours of the area which you offer.

We really enjoyed the "Dark Side of Charleston" tour. Some members of our party had not visited the city, and our wonderful guide, Eli, was so great at combining the "have to knows" of Charleston with insiders' references. He was so charming; we cannot wait to try the "Ghosts and Graveyard" Tour. We will definitely refer our friends and family to the "Dark Side".
