The Darkside of Charleston Tour (Rated R)

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the Dark Side of Charleston Tour. We have been to Charleston countless time and have both been on ghost tours, history tours and carriage rides and this was by far our favorite tour. Our guide was really knowledgeable and funny. We would definately recommend this tour to anyone looking for something a little different from the normal tour.

I was hoping it would be a little scarrier. A lot of history information though. The guide was good.

Based on the description online, this should have been a really interesting tour. It wasn't. Our guide was awful. He couldn't tell a good story. Worse than that though, he used a ridiculous amount of profanity. I'm all for an R-rating when it adds something to the experience, but this guy was clearly over the top. Maybe he was trying to compensate for how boring his tour was. I could say a lot worse about our experience, I don't mean to discourage anyone from taking the tour at all; with another tour guide it might be great.

When we met for the tour, the guide warned us that he would frighten us with the stories he was going to tell. In fact, he said a woman had broke down into tears and, at this point, said if we didn't want to continue, we could ask for a refund. I think the woman broke down in tears from total boredom. Maybe, it was just the guide. I didn't think he could tell a good story. Initially, my group was up in front and we fell further and further behind in the group as the tour went on. At one point, my boyfriend just wanted to ditch the whole thing. I thought something better was coming and we stuck with the tour. I also thought it was odd that he didn't return us to where we started. Instead, just told us where we were located in conjunction with the Open Market and the tour was over. We were in Charleston for a very short time and enjoyed many of the other tours. This was a big disappointment.

I had great expectations for this tour - but they didn't pan out. It was R rated (as advertised) so it wouldn't be appropriate for young children. But more than that, it was rather depressing. I guess I had expected it to be a little more light hearted, but there was no light heartedness. Also, although our guide was knowledgeble, he had a very unusual accent that made him very difficult to understand - and he tended to speak somewhat quietly.

Tour guide was very knowledgable about the city's history. Would recommend !!!!!

We were interested in a night tour of Charleston that wasn't a ghost tour and we got it! This was well worth it and I will recommend it to friends!

My friend and I attended the Darkside of Charleston tour the last night of our week long stay and our only regret was that we didn't get to take it sooner!! Lindsay was a fantastic tourguide and and made the darkside seem like the only side to be on!! I would most definitely recommend this tour to anyone wanting to know the ins and outs of good 'Old Charleston'. Thanks for everything!
