The Darkside of Charleston Tour (Rated R)

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Susan as our guide. She was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable and answered our many questions with wit and an obvious flair for fun. We visit Charleston every couple of years, but this is the first time we've taken this particular tour. It's on our list for our next visit as an after dinner walk and a fun time spent with new acquaintances!

The Darkside of Charleston is certainly another way of looking at the Holy City. Our showed us another side of Charleston -- it is not a ghost tour but a view of the unsavory side of life.

First, I read other reviews of the Darkside Tour and people were saying they had trouble understanding the guide. We did not experience that trouble. Our tour guide, Braxton, provided us with a fun filled surprising tour. Both of us really enjoyed the interesting facts about Charleston and the individuals that have lived there along with visiting. I would definitely recommend this tour if you want something different and have a good time.

The Darkside of Charleston Tour was a wonderful experience. Susan was a great tourguide and she had the best stories to tell. A great way to get know the less popular history of Charleston!

Steve was great guiding us through the dark side of Charleston's history. Fun as well as educational. We had a great time.

We would not recommend this tour to anyone! With the thought that we were going to do a walking tour and go to several buildings in Charleston and have the tour guide tell stories/tales about what took place in each of these buildings and/or areas, we were flabbergasted that what we mostly did was stand on corners, underneath street lights, and against buildings and were told stories that had nothing to do with where we were standing. And every single story for 1.5 hours was about prostitution. Didn't hear about debauchery, murders, etc. Just prostitution and millions of references about how well endowed King Charles II was. The four of us were extremely bored and couldn't wait for Eli to stop talking and get the tour over with.

The tour was great and very imformative. I actually learned more about Charleston's history on this tour than I did on the bus tour. Our tour guide, Lane, was excellent and had a real passion for the history and storytelling. I would definitely recommend this tour to others.

Our guide gave us so much detailed information, including names and dates of the events. A week later and I'm still telling my friends and family members stories. We'll be sure to book another tour on our next visit to Charleston.

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the Dark Side of Charleston Tour. We have been to Charleston countless time and have both been on ghost tours, history tours and carriage rides and this was by far our favorite tour. Our guide was really knowledgeable and funny. We would definately recommend this tour to anyone looking for something a little different from the normal tour.

Our guide was very nice, knew alot about the area but he had an accent that sounded as though he was from MS or LA not from Charleston. It was hard for my date to understand him. As we later discussed it was worth the money just to be able to walk around Charleston late at night with each other with out worring about our saftey. Interesting stuff but you can only listen about brothels and such for so long. If you want to walk around Charleston late at night and be mildly entertained then I would do this tour, if your looking to be really entertained I would not recommend it.
