We expected a broader range of dark tales, i.e. murder and other crimes, not a 90 minute lecture on prostitution. Our guide, Lindsey, was more interested in hearing herself talk and lingered much too long at each site. We got the point and she just continued to ramble on, trying to embellish the story with her own experiences that had very little to do with anything. The language and material were not problematic as our kids are 17, however, her style was annoying. My husband felt as if she did not present enough tales to fill up a 90 minute tour. Frankly we were all quite bored.

Our tour guide, Lane , was very knowlegeable and knew vast details about history that we never would have heard about on one of the group tour buses. Very interesting, little know facts about Charleston. My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Half the fun was listening to Lane's authentic "Charlestonian" accent. Would highly recommend for all.....Yankees may wish to bring a translator or a "How to Speak Southern" dictionary, rather than bashing Lane's accent!!

We could not understand a word the tour guide was saying. I am not even sure if he knew what he was talking about. We ended up going back to the office and asking if we could reschedule. We got our gift certificates back and are now planning on going on a different tour with a different guide!!!!!!!!!

If you take this tour you have to have Lane as your guide! He is super informative about the history of Charleston and explains the goings on to you in a very matter a fact manner. It’s very laid back every tour. My husband and I loved it!

This was a fabulous tour and I chose it upon the recommendation of a co-worker. I would recommend it to anyone who desires to learn more about history. Our guide gave us some very interesting facts and stories about the area, as well as taking us to places I didn't expect (like a local graveyard). It was a great tour!!

I enjoyed this tour very much! My husband wasn't as impressed, but, he prefers the more "haunted tales" type of tours. Our guide was just wonderful......you could tell he really loved his job and was just great in taking us to a cemetery as a couple of us had asked about. Great "seedy/historical" information you receive. I wanted a tour that was non-ghost story related to learn more about Charleston but didn't want to do it in the blazing 95+ degree weather during the day so based on reviews I had read, this seemed like a good call. Our guide did a great job keeping us off the "busy areas" before talking to us so all could hear and really knew his historical facts. It was a great way to see some buildings we had passed by and yet never even knew had such sorrid tales within their walls!!! :-) All in all, if you are into the more "seedy/historical" information about downtown Charleston, this would be the tour for you. I very much believe that each guide either makes/breaks their groups' experiences and in our case, our guide was just great! Even my husband who was on the fence about this tour admitted that he was quite possibly the best tour guide we have ever had. As for the price, we have been on many walking tours over the years and they all seem to average about the same in busy tourist destinations. Besides, you have to splurge once in awhile! ;-)

I was very excited about going on this tour as it was my first ghost tour/darkside tour I had ever attended. I was disappointed in that the tour guide was very hard to hear and understand. He was not very attentive to the outside noises that happened around us that took away from his vocals of history. The most interesting part of the tour was the graveyard tour. I felt the tour lacked enthusiasm, although, the knowledge of the guide and his historical facts were quite vast. It would have helped to be able to hear and understand him better.

Our guide was excellent! She took us around town and told us tales that would curl your toes! It was amusing and fun even in the pouring down rain! Don't go if you are offended easily with sexual terms, but this was great! I would highly recommend this tour to all adults!
