Great tour for history fan adults

| I goofed up the reservation online but the Bulldog staff were very accomodating to change the tour date when I called them last week. Left the kids with my inlaws since this is "rated R". Wife wanted to do a ghost tour but I talked her into doing this one instead since the kids weren't with us. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable on the subjects of crime, prostitution and bizarre Charleston history. Who knew such a charming city had such a crazy past?? Wife and I both enjoyed the tour.
FYI - it is RUDE to talk on your cell phone while on tour, even if you stand 15 feet away. |

| My wife and I really enjoyed the tour. Our only thing against it was the guide spoke fairly quickly. There were stories that you may have need more background on or history reminders that he was a few sentences into before you could process what was being said. His volume was a little low too. But he spoke fairly long on most topics and I think there was enough repetition to get the gist of what was missed. He came across as very knowledgable and really respecting history in general and in particular to his city. On some other tours you may take you get some overlapping stories that other guides tell you, but his stories were often side stories others never mentioned on topica or just topics that others wouldn't hit on. I'm not good at remembering dates and details given to me as fast as they were in the tour and I feel I'd appreciate things more had I heard them again. Our Guide was Lane, I believe, if he's yours he is very good. As usual its best to stick close to him so you may hear side stories from othe rpeoples questions en route to different locations or just to hear more detail when he speaks. We thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend. |

| I guess we could have just gotten a poor guide. We bailed 15 minutes into the walk. Might try again with a different guide. |

| Guide was very knowledgable with pictures to prove his stories.
He showed a lot of energy and enthusiam about his subject.
He was friendly and made us all feel welcome to Charleston.

| First, I read other reviews of the Darkside Tour and people were saying they had trouble understanding the guide. We did not experience that trouble. Our tour guide, Braxton, provided us with a fun filled surprising tour. Both of us really enjoyed the interesting facts about Charleston and the individuals that have lived there along with visiting. I would definitely recommend this tour if you want something different and have a good time. |

| It would be better to do this tour in the daytime. Our guide was great, and very knowledgable, but sometimes his accent was difficult to understand. |

| I was expecting something entertaining and exciting... This was to say the least, neither. I guess if you have a good imagination, you would find the history intertaining... For instance, that building over there, used to be a brothel. In this parking lot, someone was tarred and feathered... Not worth the $! |

| Our guide was very nice, knew alot about the area but he had an accent that sounded as though he was from MS or LA not from Charleston. It was hard for my date to understand him. As we later discussed it was worth the money just to be able to walk around Charleston late at night with each other with out worring about our saftey. Interesting stuff but you can only listen about brothels and such for so long. If you want to walk around Charleston late at night and be mildly entertained then I would do this tour, if your looking to be really entertained I would not recommend it. |
