Although our tour guide was pleasant enough, the ghost tour of Charleston was boring and very disappointing. We were under the impression that we would actually enter buildings where ghosts were thought to be present. Boy were we wrong. Basically, the tour went like this-- we visited the so called "dungeon" filled with pirate mannequins. ( like a bad wax museum with the lights turned off) and were told some stories about pirates (None of which actually died in the dungeon-- according to our guide) Then we walked through the streets of Charleston and at a variety of street points (some bearing no significance at all-except shade) we were told a very long winded story about a ghost of Charleston) This went on for about an hour as the guide pointed to a few buildings. Some of the stories actually told of ghosts that were present at one point in time, but the guide would then mention that since the buidings were recently renovated, the ghost visitations were no longer. OK --so where's the ghosts??? Our family had watched some of the Travel Channel Ghosts of Charlestons episodes and saw the people entering buildings and walking up staircases and through homes. This doesn't happen. Don't waste your money!

I really wish I could remember our tour guide's name... perhaps Dave? Anyway, he was great! So much enthusiasm and vigor. He seemed to really be involved with the stories he told us. I can't wait to go on the other ghost tours!

Of course, no one expects to see any ghosts on this tour, but we do wanna have fun and get a little spooked. Our tour guide was way over-the-top and a bit annoying, plus she walked way too fast through the streets, often making us cross when it said not to....there were some close calls with the cars! We got to the dungeon and she talked and talked and talked...but the stories about the pirates were pretty cool. We finally went into the dungeon and it went downhill from there. It didn't seem like a dungeon, just like a really cool basement. We were treated to another long story, then we left to practically run behind the guide as she moved to the next place. By then, 3 people had already ditched the tour out of boredom. By the time we made it to the graveyard and had to face another long story, my girlfriend and I also decided to leave and we never finished the tour. I recommend going on a carriage tour instead...it's much more fun
