Great staff and awesome historical information

Will book with this group again. Since it was Halloween month, I had hoped to be spooked a bit more. Went conservative on the tour since my hubby is a bit skiddish. Will go for the jail tour next time. Heard it's quite frightful.

Fun, interesting, lacking accuracy

Let me begin by saying the tour guide was magnificent! She was enthusiastic and funny, and without her the tour would have dragged. It was interesting, but I would hope the information given in the Dungeon (day v/s night) would mesh better with each other. Folktales were portrayed as fact in one or two instances, and (being a teacher) I fret over misinformation being spread! If we went in some more buildings, not just the Dungeon, it would have been more interesting. Walking by cemetary without a story? That was lacking!

Okay, but nothing great

Charleston is considered by many to be a very haunted city. As such, and for all the hype that Bulldog puts out, you'd expect to see something scary (other than the menu prices at the local restaurants). If you are a serious ghost hunter, or even half-way interested in a ghostly encounter, save your money. If you want a little exercise and to hear about some of Charleston's history, albeit in a paranormal vein, then go ahead and spend the money. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the local legends, but we never really got to go into any of the "haunted" places except the dungeon. And that was only for about 10 minutes. Okay, so it's a little spooky down there with the lights off. But there's no real talk about apparitions, orbs, mists, or EVP's (if you are unfamiliar with any of those terms, please watch one episode of Ghost Hunters on Sci-Fi), nor is there any attempt to get anything to manifest. Okay, I've already said it so I'll remind myself here for all of our sakes: this is not a ghost hunt! So, the old advise is the best advise: know what you want before you go. If you want to meet a ghost (or at least have a good chance of seeing something ghostly) contact a paranormal research team. If you are in Charleston for vacation and want to get a different version of local history, take the tour. Forewarned is forearmed.

Another tour guide may have improved the tour, but I would not recommend it. The ghost tour was somewhat interesting, but when your guide takes you to an alley and tells you the story behind it's "hauntings" and says he is too scared to go down it so we could come back on our own - it is 1) too cheesy if that is their standard line, and 2) ridiculous because that is what we paid for.

As a family with young children, this tour was wonderful. The guide told interesting stories that were not too scarey for the young children. We went at 7 so there was still daylight in the summer. Very enjoyable and not too much walking.

Overall pretty good...

I enjoyed the ghost tour, I think it's a must do in Charleston. 1st of all, there isn't much else going on in the evening (besides the fantastic restaurants) if you aren't into the bar scene. It was great for me because I got into Charleston in the evening!! I thought my tour guide could have been a little better, but I don't want to pass judgement on all of the tours out of there... my tour guide took us out for longer the the 90 minute limit, but that was to make up for some of the off topic stories. Like I said, I think with another tour guide, I would have had more focus on the ghosts than his personal life!

High Price for Storytelling

Our tour guide was energetic with his storytelling. The three of us in our group were not thrilled at all with the lack of gore or scare factor! This tour was not worth the price that we paid.

Not quite what I expected

The tour guide herself was quite knowledgable about the area and the history. She did a good job with the tour. The issue I had is that the one dungeon was really the only sight we got to see firsthand. I would recommend a different tour so that more areas could be seen.

Not Scary!

If you like old ghost stories and hearing that there are several places that are haunted in Charleston then this is the tour for you. You don't get to go into any places and you have no proof it's really haunted. It was kind of a boring tour but if you like history then it would be the tour for you.
