The tour guide was informative and did a nice job presenting the stories associated with each stop. The tour itself involved only four stops accompanied by a brief story and some history.
One reason I chose this package was the highly touted special access to the dungeon. Thinking this was some sort of special privilege associated with this tour, I was disappointed to find that the dungeon is open to the public and available for touring throughout the day as part of other tours.
Considering that the entire tour consists of locations that you can walk to and explore on your own without paying for a guide, you may be better served purchasing a book about Charleston ghosts and seeking out the locations on your own. |

The Ghost and Dungeon Tour we took was quite a disappointment. Our tour guide did an excessive amount of talking and only took us to four locations. We were only able to enter one of the four locations that we went to. The tour ended up at the Waterfront Park with the tour guide spending over a half hour telling tall tells and showing us bogus pictures. He basically left it up to us to either follow him back to where we started or leave from that site to venture out on our own. I didn't feel that we received our $54.00 worth. We were extremely disappointed. |

I was a little apprehensive after reading some of the other reviews for the Ghost & Dungeon Tour, but it met and exceeded all of our expectations! Our tour guide was Barbara, a fantastic storyteller, who kept us entertained every step along the way. There was ample time to ask questions and explore the dungeon. This was the highlight of our trip to Charleston and our only regret was that we didn't have enough time to take the rest of the ghost tours Bulldog offered!! |

I'm sorry to say - choose another company. |

I've lived in the Charleston area for 12 years and have been on numerous tours of the city, both walking and carriage, including other ghost tours. I had company from out-of-town for the Labor Day weekend and thought this would be a fun one. I had two main problems with the tour: 1) The tour itself included too few actual sights and WAY too much time spent waiting at each one. Other ghost tours I’ve been on took us off the beaten path and through the old, charming areas of downtown, stopping briefly to share tales about many different people, houses, cemeteries, alleys, etc. This tour took the first 40 minutes, mostly standing and waiting, to see two sights (the dungeon and a restaurant, both on the main thoroughfare East Bay Street). It reminded me of the queues at Disney World where you stand in one themed area then another so you don't realize how long you're standing and waiting in line (which I appreciate at Disney World, but not on a walking tour to see the sights of a city). The dungeon was definitely not worth the wait; go into any business on King Street to see a similar sight. 2) Charleston is so rich in folklore and history, it was very disappointing (especially considering how much time we stood at each stop) that the tour guide spoke adnauseam about only one person at each, concerned more with dramatic flare than with sharing stories. She seemed like a displaced actor reciting a dramatic monologue, not engaging with the group, and not wanting to be bothered or asked questions at all. I believe one of the most endearing parts of Charleston is our many enthusiastic tour guides who enjoy what they do and love sharing what they know about the city. Unfortunately, this was not one of them.
I wish I could say even one positive thing but I felt completely disappointed and ripped off by this tour. I will continue to share our charming city on other tours but definitely not with this company.

Our tour guide was very informative, and exciting to listen to. He was an older man who grew up in the area and his story telling was fantastic. My husband and I truly enjoyed the tour and the history lesson included. I would have liked enter a few of the buildings, maybe the church where the cemetery was. I thought we'd go into more buildings, I guess. |

It is considered a ghost & dungeon tour, but 1/2 of us fell asleep by the end. I guess I wanted more ghosts and a spookier tour. I should have booked the adult (rated R) tour for our group. Also it is unfair not to reimburse for extra tickets. You made $36 on our group, due to changed travel plans. I hope you tipped the guide for us!
