Step lightly and carry an open mind.

We saw no ghosts on our graveyards tour, but there were some odd light distortions captured by our camera. (Hmmm...) Our guide, Neil, was a great source of local lore of a macabre nature, and of Charleston's otherwise rich history. He left us wanting to know more. Wouldn't it be funny if he were not a Bulldog employee at all, but the reincarnation of a revolutionary soldier or antebellum planter having a little fun with the tourists? Now there's a good ghost story! Really though, his enthusiasm was infectious and we look forward to coming back to the Holy City to be regaled again. -mrs.r

David was fun and informative. He made the experience very enjoyable I like hearing the stories. I did get some great pics of a spirit and it was very eerie...I loved it. Charleston is wonderful. I would recommend this tour over the jail.

Not scary and very boring

The tour guide talked mostly about herself. We only went to three places. We stood a long time at each place and her stories were so long that she lost people's attention. We were told to walk around a graveyard in the dark for about 15 minutes - none of us had flashlights, so what was the point? We were not impressed at all. The one we did at Williamsburg was the same length and we were told MANY stories about MANY different places and the tour guide was VERY entertaining and we left with goosebumps. This was a HUGE snore fest!

Eager tour guide!

Our guide was eager and kept giving us more ghost stories that were believable even for the weary. He wanted to make sure we got our monies worth and this guy deserved a great tip even though they are not required. Please tip your guide if he or she is giving a great tour. Our guy was very thorough and really brought out the lowcountry in his tales.

Great story telling!

Our tour guide, David, was a very good story teller. He recounted events vividly and emotionally, making the walk very entertaining. I would definetly take another tour with Bulldog tours. The only unpleasant thing about it was the other people in the group. They were all acting inappropriately and were completely class-less. I realize that this is no fault of the tour guide or bulldog tours, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. Highly recommended!!!

good tour but too much info

tour sites were good, the cemetary was interesting. Our tour guides stories took too long and she did not address the whole group, she only talked to certain people. I would of liked to hear more about the people buried in the cemetaries rather than all really lenghty stories of 2 individuals. Saw more tombstones going back on our own during the day, and got better information on the carriage ride from the driver.

I can't wait to take the other tours offered!

I went on the Charleston Ghosts and Graveyards tour with my 19 year old daughter. We had been on a "ghost tour" in Savannah and we weren't impressed by it...however, this more than exceeded our expectations. We had a great time! The group was small enough so that everyone could hear the tour guide, and I appreciated the fact that the guide (David) is a local who knows the geography and culture of the Charleston area, not just "ghost stories." We will be taking more bulldog tours in the future and we highly recommend this one. Paula

Save your money...

Take it from life-long locals, this tour was, at best, mediocre. It was a complete waste of money and time. Our guide, Cathy, was entertaining enough and a good story teller, despite getting really close to campy at times. I did think if she said 'with that in mind' one more time during our tour, I might scream. :/ The Ghosts and Graveyard Tour was listed as a 90 min walking tour. It was a 90 min standing tour with two stops, three stories and some history. We were shocked. The stops were St. Phillip's and the Circular Congregational Church graveyard. Our guide spent the vast majority of the time standing in front of St. Phillip's, relaying the story of Harry Reynolds capturing the image of the ghost of Sue Howard in 1987. Then we walked across Church St. and sat on a low wall while she relayed the story of Nettie Dickerson (Dock Street Theatre). We were within walking distance of the theatre, so why not walk there and tell the story there? After this, we walked around the corner to the Circular Congregational Church, where Cathy gave us the history of the church and showed us the earliest graves and headstones, relayed information about the carving of stones, and explained the originations of the phrases 'graveyard shift', 'saved by the bell' and 'dead ringer'. That was it. No mention of the ghosts at Poogan's Porch or Southend Brewery, despite being in easy walking distance of both. The description on Zerve, promises the story of John C. Calhoun's ghost - nope. The Bulldog ghost tour isn't even remotely close to being in the same league as the Tour Charleston one we took five or six years ago. We're talking the difference between pee-wee rec league football and the SEC championship. I hope, given the reported decline of Tour Charleston, another group can come in and truly fill the void in the future.

Historical but not scarry

I enjoyed the story, but it was not very entertaining. Our group expected a good scare and it was just like taking a history walk. I don't feel like it was worth $18.

Wasn't Exciting

The tour was a little disappointing as we had to keep waiting for all the other tour groups to finish. Way too much history and no ghosts. After the tour of the cemetery, we were told that the tour guide was leaving us. She didn't even take us back to the tour site. Just a goodbye. After spending almost $40.00, a little common courtesy would have been nice. Thank you, Sharon Bruckner
