Very Educational

My husband, 10 yr old son, and myself took this tour. It wasn't really scary but it was very educational and informative. My husband and son are into historical things and they loved the stories. Our tour guide was great!

It was okay...informative....worth the $18 paid

It was okay, informative....as informative as going to a museum with the lights out....have to admit, I was disappointed....would have been angry if I spent more than $18.... Tour guide, Glen was knowledgable, but was a little difficult to understand. In his story telling he used a lot of infliction, but we missed the ends of a lot of his sentences.

It was entertaining and a great history lesson. I don't think I was scared at any time and I didn't experience anything supernatural. Yet it was a good time.

Okay Tour

The old jail was really neat, but it was a very short tour. I think that some other tours might be better, especially considering they cost the same. This tour was very hot (no ac in the jail) and it was short (only 45 minutes).

History OK tour not

The history was interesting on the tour but the actual tour was bad. I expected an "old" jail not one being refurbished into who knows what with drywall and fake walls. The place is a school during the day and a "haunted" place at night after 6, Make it look original and I would give it a better score but its not scary spend your money on a better tour.

A little underwhelmed by the tour.

Our guide for the Old City Jail tour was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, but the tour itself was a letdown. I was really hoping to see much more of the jail (especially the older section built in 1802), but we only saw three rooms plus a hallway. Was really expecting and hoping for more.

Historically interesting and CREEPY!

My kids had seen the Charleston Jail on the Travel Channel's Ghost Adventures. They (and myself) were very interested in the supernatural aspect of the jail. My daughter believes she caught an apparition on camera, so that made her tour well worth it. Being a history teacher myself, I found the historical stories fascinating. Nevertheless, I found the tour very creepy and unsettling at times. I was first into a very dark room and was totally creeped out. I kept my back to the wall at all times so as nothing would creep up behind me. If that would have happened I would have left the tour. Good time was had by all the living and the dead!

Very Educational on History but, too Short on Time

My family and I enjoyed the tour very much and learned some of the old Charleston Jail's history. The guide was a very good storyteller and went into much detail. But, we all wished that there was greater access to the entire facility and more time to explore and learn about this historical site. A 45 minute tour is just too short based on the size of the facility and the amount of history that the jail contains within its walls.

the tour was a lot of fun. it was really creepy being there and hearing all the stories about the place. nothing paranormal happened but it was still eerie. our tour guide Susan had a lot of fun stories and knew pretty much everything about it. i would want to explore more rooms of the jail though. I definitely want to go back again and see if something scary will happen.

Good tour- not a "haunted adventure"

The tour overall was good. Very knowledgable guide that made tour worth the money. The description of tour made it out to be a "ghost" or "haunted" tour. For me that was where the exictment was to be. Basically it was a very interesting guide of a city jail. Not the least bit spooky. Props to our guide- she knew her facts!
