| The whole experience from ticket purchasing to checking in to the actual Jail tour was perfect!! My husband even caught some "activity" in the jail. :) |

| OK, so I was jazzed about this tour after hearing from other tours that I had been on that this was the "most haunted location in Charleston" and that tenants in the surrounding houses wouldn't stay for long due to all the supernatural activity in the building. That the police were called to this location all the time because of someone seeing something going on here. I couldn't wait!
I took the 10pm tour on May 13th, 2009. My group consisted of myself, my father and my nephew who is 18 years old. The only other people who went on the tour this evening was a group of 5 screaming, squealing, giggling teenage girls so it was pretty much ruined from the get go. Not the fault of the tour company or the guide. You just have to play the hand you're dealt however disappointing that may turn out to be.
I was hoping for something more serious. A reverent tour of a haunted location where unspeakable atrocities had occurred. If any location is truly haunted, it would HAVE to be places like this. I really wanted to, and almost expected to, have some sort of paranormal experience here. But I don't blame the ghosts for staying away from all this tom-foolery. The tour guide, God love her, was very knowledgeable about the location and was one of the most WONDERFUL story tellers I have ever encountered. I fell in love immediately with her theatrical way of speaking and her voice. I could listen to her tell ghost stories for 24 hours straight without tiring. But she also was partial instigator of the aforementioned tom-foolery. She locked us in a room with the lights out and then came back in with a chain and was banging it around and after half-heartedly trying to contact spirits, threw rocks around to scare us.
The building itself is owned by a local school and I'm guessing that they basically use it for storage. There is junk everywhere. I guess that's why they conduct the tours in total darkness except for a flashlight. It does kind of take away from the mood to see a bunch of signage, paint buckets, scaffolding, drop cloths, etc, etc, etc all over the place. You only get to go in 3-4 rooms because I am suspecting the rest of the building is full of junk.
If you have some interest in the paranormal, visiting allegedly haunted locations and wouldn't mind a light-hearted, fun tour then this would be great. Because it WAS fun. It just wasn't what I expected or personally hoped for. |

| My family is was on vacation in Pawleys Island. We were having a family reunion and we went to Charleston for the day. My husband, sister, cousin and I decided to try our very first ghost tour. In short, WE LOVED IT! Our tour guide was absolutely excellent. He was very entertaining and knowledgable. We got some interesting orbs in our pictures as well! This tour is HIGHLY recommended! |

| wow where do i begin. this tour was (for me) amazing. The history is great and you do get a pretty good spook from this. The one this that disappointed me was that we did see as many rooms as i thought we would have, only 4 or 5, but still it was worth the experience. If your thinking about going on this tour, you most definitely should, especially at the latest tour available. Make sure you bring a camera to catch something, because i saw something (black mass) walk across my camera the a ball of light flew in front of it, which i couldn't see with my own eyes and no ones shadow was projected. I could not snap a picture quick enough so i don't have evidence but i can't explain what i saw but i don't know it may have been a supernatural experience or not have been but i guess you need to go to determine if there really are paranormal things for yourself! |

| We were hoping for a lengthy tour of the jail but we were very disappointed. In economic times as they are now, it would be to the tourist industry's benefit to cater to the visitors who are spending their hard-earned dollars to help keep the tourist dollars flowing. |
