Good Historical Matter

I thought the event brought a very historical view of the city of Charlston.

Good tour for little time

I enjoyed this tour a good deal. The tour guide was a great storyteller, and the jail itself provided enough "creepiness" to make it all work. It was an interesting way to spend an hour, and I would recommend this tour to anyone not wanting to take 90-120 minutes for an evening tour. Be aware of the creepiness of the walk TO the jail, however...it takes you down dark alleys and side streets. If walking, it would be best to find others going on the tour and taking a group down. They do offer a driving option, which would not be a bad option, either.

The jail was so much fun. Unfortunately we didn't see anything, but maybe next time. The only downside was it was way too short. I would love to have gone through more of the jail.

Haunted Jail Tour is "ok"

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the historic jail and knowing some of the history behind it. The thing I would say most disappointed me was that I assumed they would talk more about all the different people who had been sent to the jail or worked in it. There was some of that, but mostly a lot on it's history and a lot of surprise "clapping or stomping" from the guide. She spoke of a guard & some spectors (no one in particular) and a "seer" who visted and claimed she saw the guard. It was really interesting on the historical side, but I just felt that the title was a little misleading.

Historically interesting, very good tour guide

I thought the jail was interesting and the tour guide, Suzanne, did a great job. We went with a mixed aged group with the youngest of 16 and the oldest 79 years of age. It wasn't that easy for an elderly person but we enjoyed it overall.

Not scary at all as advertised

We enjoyed the tour, but it was more of a history lesson than a scary ghost story/tour. The stories were more about the gross parts of the jail history and only one ghost story was included. The atmosphere was not scary at all. We chose this particular tour because of how well the website advertised it as being scary. Overall, it was interesting, but we were very disappointed with the lack of fright factor. Our tour guide did a good job, though.

Great tour, would recommend

The night-time jail tour was great. We arrived at dusk, the jail was creepy to begin with and bats were flying out of it. The tour guide, Eric, is very knowledgeable. I don't know about it really being haunted, but hey, whatever, it was entertainment. The only drawback is that the old jail is located right next to a low income housing project (the hood). It seemed safe though because Charleston has a constant police presence. I would recommend this tour for it's entertainment value.

waste of money

we were very disappointed. we had to walk 7 blocks to get to the jail. the tour consisted of entering through the back of the building, going though that level and then going downstairs and exiting through a door there. there were four levels in the building and all we got to see was two. there were old boxes and things like that laying about. the tour guild contradicted herself several times making what she said doubtful. we would not recommend this tour to anyone.
