| This is the third tour that I've taken with Bulldog Tours. I had taken the Ghosts and Gravestones tour a few years ago when I first visited Charleston. I loved it so when I found myself in town again for a short period of time I make sure to come back to take the other tours. I was short on time so I took the Ghosts and Dungeon tour at 7 PM and the Jail tour at 9 PM. It was a fast walk between where the Dungeon tour ended and the Jail but Bulldog gave me a good map. I arrived only about 5 minutes early for the tour.
The jail is located in an area of town that is not as privileged as other areas as Charleston. The building is forboding. Suzann was our tour guide. She runs a very strict tour. We had some pre-teens on the tour who were apt to ask questions in rapid fire succession and talk on their cell phones. She delt with the situation quickly but a bit abruptly. I was happy that she did it but it was also a bit offputting. Her delivery of the stories and information was a bit sensational which for me distracts from the tour. If you like a tour where the guide trys to scare you then you'll love it. I prefer to hear the story, the supernatural activity and the research that has been done in a less theatrical manner but I suspect that I'm probably in the minority.
The building itself is rather imposing. It is in the middle of a renovation right now but it was possible to imagine how difficult it must have been to spend time there (a drastic understatement). Nothing paranormal happened on the tour but I actually wasn't expecting anything to happen so I wasn't disapointed.
All in all this was an interesting tour and I'd recommend it although I don't think it is the best of the tours offered by Bulldog. |

| This is a very good tour. Our guide, Susan, was very well rounded on the history of the jail. She pointed out at the beginning of the tour that it was a historical tour, not a tour to scare you... So don't expect any evil clowns or Freddy Kruegers to come jumping out at you. We were told that this is the best ghost tour in Charleston and my wife and I fully agree. Don't forget to bring your camera... you won't regret it. |

| I thought the place was pretty creepy. There was a lot of great history behind the place as well. Nothing unusual happened while we were there, but later I had some pictures developed and I believe I caught some orbs! I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who loves history and wants to explore a pretty interesting place. |

| My husband, mom and I did this tour. We thought that this was once of the best tours we had been on. My husband and I did the haunted pub crawl in Savannah and thought this was much better. We thought the tour guide Ely was awesome!!! Great stories and good history facts. We were scared at points of the tour. My mom and I both felt chills in a couple of the rooms. I would recommend this tour to anyone. |

| I went on this tour with my wife and was quite impressed. The tour guide, Eli, had an appropriately dark and eerie tone and did a great job of making the audience feel as though they were truly connected to the area they were touring. He clearly knows his history and did a great job of explaining it. He has a good sense of humor and is a competent guide with just the right amount of creepiness--I wonder if he moonlights as an undertaker?
Highly recommended. |

| Eli was an awesome guide. I've done a few of the Ghost tours thru Bulldog and he has been the best guide so far. This is a cool place to visit! |

| The tour guide (Ginger) was very knowledgeable about the tour and a good story teller. There was another group on the property (part of the school that actually owns the property) and they were building things and playing music which was distracting from the tour and sort of put a damper on the atmosphere. I would recommend going on a later tour (after 8:00 pm) to avoid these distractions and have the added benefit of a spooky tour after dark. |
