We did two tours and the haunted jail was our favorite. We were the only tour group in it at the time which made it more creepy, unlike the graveyard tour where there were multiple groups spread out in different locations. The building itself was almost creepy enough, but our tour guide was the icing on the cake. She told the stories with a low creepy tone and made us jump on several occasions. The dark and confined hallways and cells helped make this fit the style of tour we were looking for. The stories were more horror type as well.
WE HAD A GREAT TIME! |

We loved this tour. The tour guide was fantastic, incredibly enthusiastic and very well versed in not only the history of the jail, but in Charleston lore as well. She gave us so much interesting information and delivered it in such a way that it really stuck with you. The jail itself was very creepy and of course the tour guide helped set the mood. I would have loved to see more of the jail and hated that the tour was only 45 minutes. Didn't get any ghost photos, but I certainly think it could have been possible. They gave you ample opportunity to take pictures and our guide was more than happy to answer questions. Would do this tour again and would certainly recommend it to anyone who wants some spooky Charleston history. |

I am a big fan of anything spooky and scary so I loved this tour. It wasn't cheesy or fake in any way. Lots of history, stories, and made the hair on the back of your neck stand up. Definitely bring your camera and hope your batteries don't die unexpectedly during the tour. |

What a cool place! We loved it. It would be neat to do an all night ghosthunt there. Suzanne was very informative and her stories were very exciting. Luckily no Hags followed us home. Charleston is a beautiful city and well worth the trip from PA. |

The tour wasn't so much spooky as horrifying. It's hard to believe that less than 100 years ago prisoners were treated so inhumanely! The facility was authentically derelict and creepy--this is not a Disney ghost tour!
Our tour guide (Susannah, I believe) was extremely well informed, and managed to maintain the attention of my hyperactive 10 year old and bored-by-nature teenager. I would recommend this tour--and particularly this tour guide We're already looking forward to our next Charleston visit--and Bulldog ghost tour! |

Our group didn't have any paranormal events occur, but the tour guide was very knowledgeable and the history of the jail house made it at least interesting. However the 16 dollars a head for a 45 minute tour was a bit much and I would not pay it again. |

The tour guide, Suzanne, was a good story-teller and created a good effect. The tour offered good insight into crime and punishment and how the nature and magnitude of "just punishments" has evolved over the years and across cultures. However, it was not scary as you would expect a ghost tour to be. |
