| We heard that this was the best ghost tour in town, so naturally we tried it first. While the scene of the City Jail held a great deal of potential, the presentation was very poor. The jail is undergoing constant reconstruction, as it was originally condemned, but there appears to be little effort to separate the construction from the tour path. As a result, it is VERY difficult to “see” how the Jail used to be. The tour guide was nice and somewhat informed of the history, but a VERY poor storyteller. I felt like the stories would have been appropriate for a high school class, not an adult tour. The group was small enough not to be a distraction, but the constant flash photography completely ruined the intended "scariness" of the experience. As a result, my wife and I were very unimpressed. Don't go here to be scared, it's just not set up for it. Like I said, it was a reasonably good History Walk, a really bad Ghost Tour. |

| i think her name was karen or kathy, she made the tour a lot of fun; however, i think it would be a little more realistic if all the college classrooms and college supplies were contained to a couple rooms that you did not tour thru. |

| This tour was nice to see the history behind the jail and part of Charlestons history. However it was a little creepy that the walls had to be braced in order for people to enter into the building, I was afraid it was going to fall in on use. We did not experience anything, however I was a little freaked out when the lady leading the tour said people had been possessed and followed from the tour. |

| A lot of fluff about orbs was given but of course as I suspected none were seen on our tour. The history of the jail was impressive though and being able to walk back in time in this awful place really brought out the reality of what had taken place there. And for that I would recommend the tour. The art work did detract from the setting though and seemed very out of place. |

| AJ was our guide and did a great job describing in great detail how sinister the Old Jail was and still is. My daughter loved every moment of the tour. We can't wait to return and go on other tours. |

| Although we really enjoyed hearing the stories and history of the jail, we wished we could have toured the entire jail. We also wished the tour was longer than 45 minutes. The group size allowed was perfect. |

| We enjoyed learning the formal history of the jail as well as the "spritiual" history. Ashley was our tour guide, if I remember correctly, and she was very entertaining and informative. My only disappointment was with the access to the building. It definitely would be more fun if the building were completely available to the tour, and didn't have all of the school's equipment in it. But as the building is being used for two purposed, that cannot be avoided.
I would like to share that while in one of the upstairs rooms I felt like something touched my right ear and the up whole side of my head and down my neck heated up. At the time I also thought I heard a whisper of some sort also. We went on the tour on Sunday evening and my ear was still very red, swollen, and itchy until Wednesday. There was no bite mark, like from an insect or spider. Feel free to add that to any stories told during the tour if you see fit. :-) |

| Took the Haunted Jail Tour Sept 5 2009. Impressive from the outside but huge disappointment on the inside. This facility is being renovated as a school or office space. We only had access to three rooms. All rooms of this facility are under renovation. The first room was mostly renovated and had some small rope hanging from the ceiling in an attempt to illustrate a method of torture. The second room was being extensively remodeled with new I beams and such. Half the floor is gone. A newly made jail cell was in the middle of the room for everyone to look at. The third room was shown only because you could see damage to the concrete floor where prisoner cells were bolted down. The tour guide was cheesy in relating the "stories" of the past. This tour guide would have been better suited leading children through the facility. And the constant drinking from the big gatorade bottle was goofy. I was not expecting to see any ghosts, just get a decent tour of something historical. Also a pretty rough part of town. If you choose to go, park at the jail. Do not walk the six blocks. If I had it to do over, I would choose something else. You need to pass on this one. |
