The Charleston Haunted Jail Tour

The stories that were told were excellent, and the ambiance of the jail was great to set the mood. Very pleased with the tour and the photos we took were fantastic!

I enjoyed this tour. I learned a lot about the history of Charleston. The tour guide was great! We had no paranormal experiences but I loved the tour.

I thought the tour was great. The tour guide, Glen, was great. My only complaint is that he seemed very rehearsed and theatrical. This took a little bit away from the experience. If he had been more candid/natural, it would have been more scary. Also, some people showed up early for their tour, so they joined ours. This made the group a little too big. A little smaller group would have been nicer and easier to walk around and see things in each room.

The Jail has been turned into a school. Seeing bulletin boards and art supplies around greatly diminished the effect. We only saw two rooms. Our story teller did a good job but there was little connection between the stories and the jail. The walking tours of downtown are better.

I have always been fascinated with the paranormal. On a weekend getaway, me and my significant other thought it would be cool to go on a haunted tour while in Charleston. He thought I would be terrified. To say the least, he screamed more than I did. I would recommend this tour to anyone going to Charleston and who is brave enough to tour the haunted jail.

Glen was a great guide and kept us interested. Sadly, his enthusiasm made the time go by so fast that it was over before we knew it. Thanks. Bill

My boyfriend and I recently attended the haunted jail tour with Glen as our guide. He was a very interactive guide and clearly knew what he was talking about. The jail created the perfect eerie atmosphere and my boyfriend confessed that he was creeped out during the entire tour. I highly recommend this tour because not only do you learn a lot, but it has a true haunted house feel. Make sure to bring your camera! In one of the rooms I picked up MANY orbs!

I have been on all the ghost tours provided by Bulldog tours and the jail tour is best.

The positive: I enjoyed the tour and the enthusiasm and knowledge of the guide. The kiddies were not ignored. All questions answered. The tour was unrushed and the guide stayed and extra 15 minutes with us lengthening our tour and giving us more bang for our buck. Directions to the jail we clearly given. The negative: They had us check in so early that we had to wait outside the jail for over a half hour. No warning that they have no free parking at the tour office facility. They charge the same amount for this "45" minute tour as they do for other lengthier tours.

I was very excited for the jail tour. However, it was a bit of a let down. It was hard to listen to the tour guide because of her voice and style of talking. Also, the tour was made to be more about torture. However, the tour guide did provide a good history of the jail, and it was a very neat place to see.
