Great tour!

We took the 8:00 tour with AJ as our guide. AJ did a great job, and had just the right mix of historic info, humor and scary stories. Some of his personal experiences in the building were enough to scare all of us even if we didn't see or hear anything from the "spirits" on this tour! We didn't catch any of the orbs in any of our pictures, but another girl in our group did get some interesting shapes showing up in her pictures. We picked this tour because it would take us inside an old building instead of just walking around town or through a graveyard. I'm glad we chose this one and I would recommend it to others. We really enjoyed it!

This was our first time in Charleston and we were only in town for 2 days. The tour was very interesting. We enjoyed hearing the stories and definitely the history of the jail which was very intriguing. Our tourguide was Suzann. She was very informed and an excellent storyteller!

I enjoyed but wish

I could have seen more of the facility. Being a Correctional Officer as well as into haunted type things, and into the history of different facilites open and closed is a very intresting thing to me. I wish we could have seen more of it though. I know there was many places that we were not allowed to access. I will definitly come back again and do the tour.

Jail doesn't need 'haunted house' dramatics

The jail looks like it should be haunted-very atmospheric. I am a semi-pro photographer, so I shot many pics in hopes of capturing something. I was not disappointed. I captured an inexplicable localized translucent haze outside of a window of the building, a tiny blue orb on an exterior wall- which upon magnification appeared three dimensional, as well as an invisible to the naked eye red orb in a completely dark jail cell. This was worth the price of admission. However, the tour guide was overdramatic with foot stomping, flashlight below her face, and a fun snap explosive. This detracted from the tour- the building doesn't need the 'haunted house' effects. My advice- keep as far away from the guide and group as possible, and take lots of pictures.

She provided the mystery that was needed for this tour. I don't think the jail itself was that spectacular, but she did a great job of trying to make it more scary. I didn't see any ghosts, or feel any cold breezes or anything like that. The best part of the whole tour was the history of the place. That in itself is enough to make you shudder. When you think of the horrors that must have gone on in that place. The diseases, the hangings, the whippings, the heat and cold since there were no windows in the place; That is enough to make it interesting. I would rather take the graveyard tour next time. I don't think the jailhouse tour was worth doing twice, but it was interesting enough to be worthwhile.

The tour was interesting, but it definitely wasn't the spookiest place I'd ever been as noted in the description.

Good thing to do with the family! Good to see that some of the money goes into restoring a historical building!
