The Charleston Haunted Jail Tour

We went on a tour with AJ as our guide and had a great time. He was informative and funny and kept the tour moving nicely. Overall it was a great tour but people should be cautioned that the tales are quite creepy but might not be best suited for those who are squimish with tales of gore and torture.

Well, I had heard really great things about this tour and was prepared to be spooked. I was rather disappointed when I didn't even get goosebumps. The guide (Glenn maybe?) was nice and knowledgeable, but he needs to work on his delivery. It just felt like a historical tour through an empty building. Not scary at all. Not even mildly thrilling. I kept waiting to get to a good part. But nothing. Did not feel I got my money's worth at all.

Our tour guide Glen was a great guide. He kept your attention and provided time for questions. Very entertaining.

The tour was fun. Our tour guide, Susan, was enthusiastic. My husband and I went and we enjoyed the experience. We just wish it could have been longer and we could have seen more of the jail.

Our tour giude seemed to be more interested in telling us "spooky' things that had happened to other tour groups than facts about the jail itself. Though the jail was not huge, we only toured about three rooms if you did not count the hallway. Each stop just seemed to be a convenient place for our guide to blab on about more spooky crap that happened to previous tours. We didn't get to see the other rooms, and we didn't even get an explanation why! Ok, It was raining pretty steadily during the tour; I understand that options can be limited by that. Given however that the majority of a tour is in a building I would have thought something could be worked out! The tour was very disappointing, and we only spent about $35 or so. I would hate to think of the disappointment a mid-size family might have had spending even more! In short, tour was uninformative, uninteresting, and not thorough at all. The tour guide was friendly however. I would recommend friends to avoid this cour company unless they were dedicated fans of 'ghost' tours.

The jail was a bit small, and the tour was very short, but the guide was great. Very informative, interesting and told the stories in a very spooky manner. Loved the history!

Unfortunately we didn't run into any ghosts, but the tour was well led by a great, knowledgeable guide.

This tour was interesting and there were lots of historical facts included. We went on the 10 pm tour so the jail looked particularly spooky!

Glen, our tour guide, made the money worth it for us! He was very knowledgeable and his insider experiences made it even creepier! My main complaint was with the "map" that gave us directions for how to get to the haunted jail. The map provided instructions for which streets to turn on but when you actually get to the streets, the streets did not have street signs... which pretty much rendered the map useless. (and this is not a good area of Charleston to be lost in the dark). I would recommend the tour, but find the jail in the daylight first!

We really enjoyed this tour. Our tourguide was full of interesting information and had some great ghost stories. My husband believes he witnessed a brief sighting of a ghost in one of the jail cells and you definitely get some hairstanding experiences. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to hear some tales from the past.
